    @OwBrH Yes, I haven’t been on a plane or anything. the most out of the country for me has been Wales, and I live there now hah!

    I do but not until September. My mum was due to go to a wedding but her friend chose to postpone as she wanted her guests to enjoy it properly. Travel republic wouldn’t let her switch her tickets or cancel them so we booked me flights and reserved seats together for it.
    I feel reasonably confident in the arrival for that as I have a few more months than most on here.

    Sadly not. I am still at ‘Documents received’. You’ll have to remind me what stage you’re at with your passport as me memory is very poor these days!

    I expect it to be another week before I get any change on the tracking if I’m honest. This is my very first ever passport.

    I completely agree there, there is no consistency with Durham! It seems to be one person has 2 weeks total and the next is 2 months!

    Makes absolutely no sense! I submitted my application 19th June and they had my documents by 23rd however they only updated the system on the 3rd, just 6 hours after I finally got a call back from the passport office in Newport.

    @dr_hamish

    Did you get a text when they had started processing the application?

    I presume we are notified of every update on the tracking?

    @charlie2566

    It took 8 days for the system to update with me. My documents were signed for on the 23rd June but they didn’t appear on the system tracking until last night at 6pm. Strangely I had spoken to someone in the passport office just 6 hours prior to that, and although they hadn’t taken any of my information, they explained the system is being slow to update with it taking 1-2weeks.

    Hang in there and fingers crossed for you!

    Also, from what I’ve seen the children passports seemed to be quicker but I’m not certain on this. Seems to vary massively from person to person.

    So it seems miraculously after I spoke to someone, my documents have now been received!

    Documents received 3 July 2020
    Application received 19 June 2020
    Identity details received 19 June 2020
    Email sent to person confirming your identity 19 June 2020
    Ask someone to confirm your identity 19 June 2020
    Application submitted 19 June 2020

    I got a call back today from the Newport office however, not much in the way of info, the gentleman just said their systems are slow on update and it can take 1-2weeks to update so he expects it to update Tuesday for me. I’ll report back Tuesday.

    @iain

    I know it’s so frustrating, however I recommend (if you haven’t already) popping your number into the callback system. I think they’re automating this because of high call volumes. I had to wait 24 hours but they did respond. It might well be worth a try. Good luck to you!

    @colinm

    Is there any way you can change the flights and explain it’s a covid-19 issue? They may cooperate then?

    The only reason I have applied now for a passport is because the virus changed a wedding date for my mum and the airlines wouldn’t change the flights or cancel them, as the flight is still going ahead. So, she got me cheap flights with her and we are having a holiday together. I have never been abroad so I am praying it goes ahead!!

    Please keep us posted on your progress. I thought my documents may have shown up by now. @Yasmine applied a day before me and has been successful up to this point so I am hopeful! Although, I am wondering if first child passports are being dealt with quicker? Who knows, there doesn’t seem to be any specific rhyme or reason to their working practices at the moment.

    @OwBrH

    I am now on hold hoping to speak to someone, to just check on the documents as they were received 9 days ago. Some people seem to be getting through great. It’s very confusing. I will update here once I have spoken to someone and let you know what they say.

    **Edit**
    I was listening to the lovely hold music, and was content with the waiting time, opted to stay on the line rather than do a callback, however, as I posted this, I was automatically put through to the callback option… Magic!!! anyway, now I just sit and wait for the call, so again, I will update once I have spoken with someone. Though I am not holding my breath.

    Hi @yasmine

    Just wondering how your application is going? Mine haven’t shown up on the system yet but yesterday was day 7 so I’m waiting until Friday if nothing then I will phone.

    Have you called them? You submitted near the start of the lockdown stuff, it could have been misplaced?

    Seems the later people submit the quicker the approval?

    Good luck!!

    That’s such a great help thank you so much for the heads up! I’ll relax a little hah! I always get paranoid that they won’t know whos docs they are, but all the info is there!

    Thank you for your response! The frustrating thing is it says on the tracking if you have sent documents, check back in 3 days. Well, I am glad you have posted as I would have been checking everyday! Do they text when they confirm documents received?

    Hi, we are in a very similar boat. I’ve applied for a first time adult, my birth certificates were delivered Tuesday (also tracked) but they’re not showing in my online tracking still. I’m hopeful that will change today.

    My timeline:
    Application received 1:27pm on 19 June 2020
    Identity details received 1:27pm on 19 June 2020
    Email sent to person confirming your identity 12:12pm on 19 June 2020
    Ask someone to confirm your identity
    12:03pm on 19 June 2020
    Application submitted 12:03pm on 19 June 2020
