Fast work from the wonderful Glasgow people - covering letter enclosed explaining urgent need, which might have helped. Adult renewal:
Passport printed and sent 1:32pm on 27 May 2020

2 others submitted at roughly the same time to Peterborough and Durham seem to be going nowhere.
Super impressed with the speedy work from Glasgow passport office!!
This is my timeline for an adult passport renewal, no cover notes of urgency or anything like that!l......

Just wanted to ask what colour passports have been received from Glasgow recently? Burgundy or Blue?
Was really worried about long wait times but I filled out my application online on 16th June and sent my old passport by special delivery so it was received on 17th although the passport office didn't inform me it was received until yesterday. They rejected my initial picture due to shadows behind me so I uploaded a new one yesterday and they've already got back to me early this morning to say the new photo is approved and the passport has been sent for printing.
Judging by the timescales with the other posts, hopefully this should be printed and sent out later on today or Monday as I assume they don't work weekends.
Really impressed with how fast it seems to be moving forwards all things considered. I've seen stories online of people waiting 10 or 11 weeks but I guess this was due to lockdown and things are slowly getting back to a bit of normality now.
I got my passport at the beginning of June. I submitted my online application on 23rd May and had the passport in my hands on 5th June. I received a burgundy passport so pretty much the exact same as my old one it just doesn’t have European Union at the top of the front cover anymore!!
Received child renewal yesterday from Glasgow. Colour was Blue.
Do you mind me asking when you applied for the child renewal? I applied on 16 May,its been processing since 1 June. I'm getting very anxious as we are meant to go on holiday in July!
When did you send your passport stuff away?
I done mine 29th May 2020 for my son’s renewal.
Been sitting at processing since 5th June 2020 - phoned them Friday told it should be an easy renewal as passport digital picture was fine, both parents have passports so he doesn’t understand why when I told him I have seen people send it after my date have their passports - said could be printed any day to give it to this Friday coming and phone back.
Explained to them we have summer holiday end July and he said you shouldn’t have booked anything told them it has been booked and paid for since February!!!
Mother-in-law works at Northgate DWP said most of passport office staff have been drafted over to process Universal Credit claims and not expected back into their normal Passport roles before 1st July.
Need to check in a week tomorrow online for our flights also!
Understand covid-19 is a serious situation and people will be perceived as being selfish but when you have spent £4,200 on a family holiday before this all kicked off for it to have came through the infections, quarantines, lockdowns etc it really is a frustrating situation!
Passport received today. Here is my timeline. I did DM the passport office via Twitter on 20 June so not sure if this helped to get the application approved more quickly.

Seems to me adults go through so much quicker
Just had this update on the Peterborough renewal. Don't know if registering a complaint, using twitter or my MP contacting the Home office has helped this on since Monday.
The system is floored due to bad management. I was told Durham are very busy and Peterborough are too. I asked why they were going to different offices and was told to evenly distribute the volume. My complaint and subsequent letter to my MP was based on this information and why the management are not manipulating the system to distribute to offices that have spare capacity like Glasgow clearly has. ???? I guess I'll never find out but something may have worked !

When did you go to
Complaints as I sent mine to
Glasgow on 25th and royal
Mail delivered 26th still saying they ain’t got it was special delivery so I know they have
Complained over the phone on Monday, I tried numerous times to get through saying "renewal" but kept getting put on call back. So the final time I said complaint and got through. I've been emailing MP since last week and had email confirming passing onto Home office on Monday. But that was for the Peterborough and Durham ones as my Glasgow only took 5 working days. They actually rcieved my Glasgow one on the Tuesday, Scanned on the Thursday and I recieved it Monday. !
Waiting for 4 child remewals
Glasgow is the slowest for me
So far not even on the system as received olds one since receiving on the 26th
Peterbough and Durham put them on yesterday so slow
As
Well No nearer getting them may have to ring complaints tommorow then as getting no where with them
Willym73
After 2 hours on phone to complaints on Friday 2 have now been approved yesterday and posted to me just awaiting on the other 2 now
Once you can email them proof that your holiday is less that 2-3 weeks and you can prove that it was booked before March they mark it as urgent
Hello everyone
I just wanted to put up my time line as whilst waiting for my daughters renewal I was on here every day checking other peoples experience. I hope this may help/reassure some of you.
I applied for my daughters renewal by paper application on 23rd June and used check and send service at my local post office.
My application went to Glasgow passport office.
I have at no point throughout application contacted them I’ve just waited.
I received a text on Saturday 4th July as follows:
Your application has been received. It’s taking longer than usual to process applications because of coronavirus (COVID-19). If you need a passport urgently for compassionate reasons or government business, call the Passport Adviceline https://www.gov.uk/passport-advice-line
This was somewhat reassuring at least I knew my application and old passport had been received and was at some stage in the system.
I received another text today 13th July
You should receive your new passport within a few working days. We’ll send your supporting documents separately.
So although I have not yet received passport I’m confident I will within next few days.
My renewal has been done within 3 weeks which is pretty impressive.
Thank you to Glasgow Passport office
