Liverpool office is the worst for sure looking at this forum. Whilst good to see things age moving, seeing other peoples receiving passports significantly quicker is infuriating... Id love to see the system - I have images in my head of hundreds of passports in a lottery style machine, spinning and spinning until it ejects the one lucky passport for that day... Contact with them many times. Every time given wrong information such as level 2 security check! Awaiting to be checked! Interview will be take place after Covid 19 situation! Even they don’t know now a days they are not calling for interview when apply from UK. CORONA actually excuse for lazy people nothing else!

Still waiting for my partner’s straightforward adult renewal from New Zealand which was submitted online on 11th May 2020. Application being processed 8:55am on 28 May 2020 Documents received 9:46am on 27 May 2020 DOCUMENTS ACTUALLY ARRIVED BY COURIER ON 19 May 2020 (9 days for Liverpool passport office to acknowledge arrival) Application received 10:42pm on 11 May 2020 Application submitted 10:42pm on 11 May 2020 Need it to arrive quickly as we need to apply for his NZ visa but despite emailing we still have no answers as to when it will arrive. :-(

I will have to pay for temporary accommodation and my wife will be forced to take a long flight, on her own with two very children. Two months after I leave, their Australian visa will expire and they will be in Australia illegally if her passport is not received. I have sent several emails only to get the same answer "the passport is being processed and we don't know when it will be ready" and "do not book travel without having recieved her passport." This is not OK. I understand it is difficult with the restrictions but people's lives and being severely impacted.

Hi, I am really unfortunate person who is waiting from 6th of March. Keep contact with HMPO lot of times. Now apparently they informed me I need to go for interview but they don’t know when! I am now just hopeless. Now a days even HMPO customer don’t know you don’t need an Interview for first adult passport! Thanks for asking

Wanted to share my experience of renewing an adult UK passport, applying from Australia, so it went to the Liverpool office. I did DM HMPO via twitter, which i think resulted in some action! It's due to arrive on 30th of July 2020. @Adam - what type of passport is yours? Where do you live? I applied for an adult renewal (having been told by some cretin at HMPO that it would take 4 weeks) and I live in Austria. Application being processed 5:10pm on 3 August 2020 Documents received 9:04am on 3 August 2020 Application received 6:47am on 9 July 2020 Application submitted 6:46am on 9 July 2020 The documents were actually received 4 days after the application was received, but they didn't even open the envelope until 3rd August. Still waiting. It's utterly pathetic. I have written and told them that it is illegal here to have no ID, but they couldn't bring themselves to give a damn, so that was that. I can't even sort out WiFi problems without a passport here.

My passport is an adult renewal. I live in Germany and also told them it is causing problems not having any ID but was told it couldn't even be pushed ahead since its an overseas passport... Also having issues at work as I am due to travel for work reasons but have no clue when I can get my passport! I have tried tweeting them based on the advice of some people on here so hopefully that will help. I was told on the phone that it takes 8 weeks from the start of processing but I am now coming up for 9 weeks and the most recent conversation was that it could still be weeks more.

It is completely ridiculous. They are prioritising people who forgot to renew a passport and want to go lie on a beach somewhere and the fact that we are walking around busily being illegal doesn't bother them!

I got onto Webchat yesterday - it is finally working again. I was given the usual patronising "we apologise for any inconvenience" but I was told that overseas applications were taking about 8 weeks after the start of processing, so I think I will expect 10 weeks, because they never tell the truth about anything.

Finally some news. Passport printed and sent 9:10am on 29 September 2020 Application approved 1:57pm on 28 September 2020 Application being processed 4:43pm on 24 July 2020 Documents received 2:14pm on 24 July 2020 Application received 9:23am on 1 July 2020 Application submitted 9:22am on 1 July 2020 Spoke to someone on Friday the 25th who said it hadn't even been looked at yet and she was also quite shocked. Said she would look into it and then it was approved the next Monday. Received a text message that it will arrive to me in Germany on 2nd October.
