Yay! Got approved today. Actually, it was very weird. I called up 15.30. Spoke to a very nice man, who was very patient, because I wanted to talk and talk about how fed up I was. He told me that someone was actually looking at the passport as opposed to it being lying on a desk somewhere and that it would take another week approximately. Then at 16:40, hey presto, I was approved. Application approved 3:43pm on 5 October 2020 Application being processed 5:10pm on 3 August 2020 Documents received 9:04am on 3 August 2020 (they were received 13th July - I sent them tracked - they opened the envelope on 3 August.) Application received 6:47am on 9 July 2020 Application submitted 6:46am on 9 July 2020

Good news for those who have had a result after phoning up. Would you mind letting me know which number you called? Last time I tried I got someone very unhelpful and not very understanding. Someone who also applied from NZ about 2 weeks before I did received their passport back 5 days ago, so I'm hoping to get some news about approval this week. However it seems like it's luck of the draw whether your application is top or bottom of someone's pile, so if there's something I can do to help it along then it will help me secure my visa extension!

PMCT - Phoning up didn't necessarily help in my case. I was fobbed off and lied to for weeks. It just so happens that the last time I called, someone was actually working on my passport and had been since the Friday (I called on Monday). I was told on Tuesday that it had been sent. Then I was told on Friday (I called for a tracking number) that it hadn't been sent till Thursday - still lying then - and it turned up yesterday. Why not try WebChat, because you can have the conversation sent to you, so you have proof if they say it will be done by a certain time.

I submitted my online application on the 10th Jan 2021, sent my old passport on the same day to the Liverpool office, but as off yet (18th Jan 2021), still not received acknowledgment that my old passport has been received. How long before i can consider it lost in the post. On the same day i sent my mums, but that went to Peterborough office, hers has been processed and received new passport. Starting to panic a little

Hi, I am in a similar situation to you but a few week behind. Application started on the 03.08.2021, documents received on the 06.08.2021, no update since. Have you not received your passport following the application approved on the 05.08.2021? I am hoping my timeline would be similar to yours, meaning 2 weeks from documents received the passport is approved, which gives me a week to receive passport following approval before my flight. Thanks.

Hi Ben I submitted my son's application on 26th - documents received on 30th July. Will let you know how we get on. My friends renewed their children's passports 2 weeks before we submitted our application and theirs was a 14 day wait from application submission to receiving passports. I am hopeful although it does appear there's a bit of a slowdown in processing times this month. Good luck

Hey Ben Have you had any updates? Totally losing my mind hitting refresh on the application. Totally unreasonable for them not to quote an eta. Esp seeing other ppls applications go to Bootle this month and they’ve already received their passports but we aren’t even being processed yet 3 whole weeks later. Looks like we won’t get to go see my parents which is depressing as I’m worried we will have flight restrictions in October or over xmas. Sigh … hope everyone else is well and seeing more progress ! Hi is Bootle the same as Liverpool? We submitted a child renewal application on 28 July, and docs received 2 Aug. But it has been stuck on that ever since, 14 days now. @haifever is yours a straightforward application or is there some complexity? We are days after you, but we are due to fly next week on 24th Aug. Does anyone know what are the stages expected after Documents Received, and how long it should take from that to receiving the passport in the post? The average of 16 days shown on this site is today for me....

Hi Tom Bootle is Liverpool (AFAIK!) Ours is a straightforward child renewal. It got moved to "approved" this afternoon but no updates on dispatch yet. We were due to fly yesterday, hoping to fly by Friday if we receive the passport in the next 48 hours. My sister received both her children's renewals in saudi arabia 48 hours after approval so hope local post is as efficient as DHL :) I will update when it gets posted/received. Good luck!

The number to call is on this page https://www.gov.uk/passport-advice-line you might wait for like 45 minutes- the staff are lovely and try to be helpful but there aren't many updates to be had. I am not sure where international applications are going to, we applied from London.

Hi We have used this website daily over the last few weeks, so thought it might be useful to post our experience. We live in the UK and applied online for both an Adult and Child Pasport Renewal on Tuesday 27 July. We posted and sent both passports to Bootle the same day. They both arrived the next day (Wed 28th) but the Passport Office didn't update our application with Documents Received until the next day (Thur 29th). We then heard nothing (not even Processing) until Sat 14th Aug (for Child) and Sun 15th Aug (for Adult) when the status changed to Approved. Yesterday (Mon 16th) we received a notification for both to say they were on their way! This was followed by and email from TNT with a consignment number but no details on when it would be delivered. This morning at 06:30 (Tues 17th Aug) the TNT tracking service said they would be delivered today between 8am - 8pm) So providing they arrive today, that will be 21 days from Application Submitted. I will upload our data once they arrive, but I checked the waiting times to day and it is quoting just over 16 days for both Adult and Child Renewals. Ours were both what I would consider to be straightforward renewals, and ours took 5 days longer than this. Hope this information will help someone, as I know how desperate I was to try and understand how the Passport System works.

Ahh thanks for the info really helpful , I’m the same been checking daily , I applied online 30th July old passport received 3rd August no info since , only have till tomorrow to move holiday without a charge so think we will have todo that 😩 but if passport back within the next week we will have time to book a last minute 🤞🤞🤞

Received our passport today. Here’s the full timeline Passport printed and sent 10:03am on 17 August 2021 Application approved 2:45pm on 16 August 2021 Documents received 1:54pm on 30 July 2021 Application received 10:42pm on 26 July 2021 Identity details received 10:42pm on 26 July 2021 Email sent to person confirming your identity 5:53pm on 26 July 2021 Ask someone to confirm your identity 5:46pm on 26 July 2021 Application submitted 5:46pm on 26 July 2021 TNT were scheduled to deliver it tomorrow but I clicked on the “reschedule delivery” and was able to change it to today.
