Here is our time line. Child's renewal, applied online, I paid around £7 at the post office for tracked next day delivery for the old passport. I won't stop panicking until the passport is in my hand although things are looking positive at the moment. We followed government guidance, didn't apply as we thought the holiday would be cancelled. I have email proof of holiday and sent a direct message through twitter with our travel date- 01.08.20. I do believe HMPO is working hard to get everyone's application completed. I really think the government should have considered all of this when announcing the air bridges!! 2 stages of my application were completed after 6pm so they are definitely working hard which I am grateful for. I haven't slept and have been in a complete state since air bridges were announced!! My final passport application has finally been approved. Contacted twitter and they are useless they said it was still processing as normal on 7th July. However on the Sunday 5th July i called and was put on the automatic call back list. They called 6th July and advised there was additional checks with the counter signature (I had 3 children passports he he had signed but this one was pulled up for checks). So twitter staff was obviously wrong. Requested call back from processing team 13th July but still waiting for this but my application was finally approved this morning. Other applications times have been posted previously under different offices. Childs Renewal: 7th July I applied by post office check & send (just after govt announced we are allowed to travel) 15th July HMPO had received passport application.(9 days after sending) Between 15th & 28th July had messaged twitter a few times & got update emails from their tracking page found out my passport was at newport. 27th July called the passport office & requested call back, got call back & asked to be put through to complaints dept. 28th July ( 2 weeks before travel- travel 11th Agust) requested the application to be expedited with evidence I booked travel before covid 28th July emailed my local MP 29th July got expedited application rejected because I don’t fit the criteria of application being with them 4 weeks (which i wouldn’t because we were advised not to apply before the 4th July because before that it was essential travel only.) 29th July received text saying due to delays passport could be up to 6 weeks. 1st August Old passport turned up 3rd August New passport arrived – Yay So a very Stressful 27 days with a lot of mis-nformation from different departments – but it came!

This is really strange, the helpline told me my kids passports were with the Durham office. Since then they say they were sent to Newport all along! I also notice not much discussion about Newport on this thread. Has anyone sent in child renewals and how long did they take please? My children's renewals have been with the examiner since 21st February. My husbands passport arrived today. We travel on 8th April, so I am getting worried now.
