Applications whilst locked down

Due to the current situation the passport office has stated they are working with a skeleton staff. Therefore processing times are taking longer than normal. The date shown on our site is an average of the last 30 days so may include data from applications sent before lock down. Post your experiences here for applications made since lock down to give others an idea of current situation. Stay safe everyone.

If anyone has time, it might be worth adding any success stories to a list to see if there is any discernible pattern emerging from each office. It would also be most consistent for the main indicator to be the date from PROCESSING. Peterborough office: kc2000's application was processing from 30th March and approved 18th May; This is exactly 7 weeks from processing to approved. Mine (Peterborough) has been processing since 6th April; so, if consistent, 25th May will be 7 weeks from processing. If mine is approved/updated on Monday 25th or any point next week, then we have some indication of consistency from the Peterborough office. I will be sure to update as soon as I can. Note: as we have established there to be no consistency between offices, if anyone would like to compile info/data on any other success story from any office, then feel free.

Peterborough Office Submitted 22-4-2020 Documents Recieved 28-4-2020 Appliciation Approved 29-4-2020 Passport Printed and Sent 30-4-2020 I also sent two Renewals to Durham which at the moment seem to be stuck at the processing point.

Okay. So clearly there’s no consistent system at Peterborough...

Another to add to the list which I missed the first time round: "If anyone has time, it might be worth adding any success stories to a list to see if there is any discernible pattern emerging from each office. It would also be most consistent for the main indicator to be the date from PROCESSING. Peterborough office: kc2000’s application was processing from 30th March and approved 18th May; This is exactly 7 weeks from processing to approved." Bb1212's PETERBOROUGH application timeline: First passport after naturalisation Processing: 24/03/2020 Approved: 14/05/2020 This is 7 1/2 weeks from processing to approved. Is there anyone who sent their application to PETERBOROUGH on a timeline where they have been waiting MORE THAN 7 1/2 weeks since PROCESSING?

Hi guys Some positive news.... 2 child overseas renewals submitted 9 March Both received 19 March Both processed 20 March We live in Oman and these were sent some time ago. We had issues in that we need the passports possibly to be repatriated and also we are moving to Malaysia so they are needed for.immigration issues. I emailed some time back, called and was told usual about No Staff and covid19 etc.. I then called again and explained our stresses. I also sent a message via Twitter- this works I was messaged via Twitter and told to contact Liverpool passport office via email saying why we need passports and proof of our move to Malaysia. Did that 6 days ago. Today I had an email saying passports approved and will be sent out. Our only issue now is we are.in lockdown and only 1 flight a week with post! But at least they are coming. I would advise contacting passport office via Twitter Send a DM to them. It does work.

Our situation is a child's first passport to Liverpool sent from within the UK Documents received on: March 26 Application is being processed: May 1 Could someone please let us know the email for Priority Handling at Liverpool, because our circumstances would qualify for it... we just don't know how to get someone to help us! We tried writing a letter in hard copy to the office, but no response yet.

I applied for child passport renewal and application is being processed since 4 March 2020 (way before lockdown) and still no sign of the passport and customer service telling me there are delays due to Covid19. It’s very frustrating as we are relocating to US and need the passport asap and it’s taking more than 2.5 months. And customer service is not willing to help. Application history pages.view.applicationHistory.statuspages.view.applicationHistory.date Application being processed 1:51pm on 4 March 2020 Documents received 2:18pm on 3 March 2020 Application received 4:12pm on 1 March 2020 Identity details received 4:11pm on 1 March 2020 Email sent to person confirming your identity 2:12pm on 1 March 2020 Email sent to person confirming your identity 7:28am on 1 March 2020 Email sent to person confirming your identity 9:41pm on 27 February 2020 Ask someone to confirm your identity 9:35pm on 27 February 2020 Application submitted 9:35pm on 27 February 2020

Has my application just been lost? I'm so stressed about this!

Our applications both went to Peterborough and both turned to processing on the same day. I too am still waiting so let’s keep each other updated if we hear anything!

So mine is 6th April processing. If there’s any sort of system then ours should be processed within a day of each other’s. As you might’ve seen I found 2 success stories earlier on in the thread, one of which was exactly 7 weeks from processing, the other 7.5 weeks from processing. So ours SHOULD be updated by next week, I hope.

I really hope so, I need it to update my registration. I had emailed to tell them that I needed it for my teaching registration and they said that they would rush it through. If this is rushing it through I would hate to see what normal pace is like!!!

Its been an extremely painful process for my first UK passport. Its been 10wks for something that has a service standard of 6 weeks. I had issues with my photo (on a separate note have complained about the algorithms in the passport photo checker which discriminates against BAME people in detecting our skin tone). Passport printed and sent 3:02pm on 21 May 2020 Application approved 5:52pm on 20 May 2020 New photo received 5:14pm on 5 May 2020 Photo rejected 7:56pm on 27 April 2020 Application being processed 9:20am on 19 March 2020 Documents received 8:49am on 18 March 2020 Application received 8:40am on 12 March 2020 Identity details received 8:39am on 12 March 2020 Email sent to person confirming your identity 4:24pm on 11 March 2020 Ask someone to confirm your identity 4:13pm on 11 March 2020 Application submitted 4:13pm on 11 March 2020 Even though it was sent to Liverpool, I was advised it was being processed by the Durham office after numerous emails as I was concerned that I was in the UK with no identification during a pandemic as HMPO also had my New Zealand passport. The communication from HMPO was very poor. Once I've received the passport in my hand, I will be making a complaint.

I feel your pain - i need my passport as photo ID to start a new job as I can’t complete onboarding checks without it. I have Security Clearance which is updated to my new surname, but I need photo ID that aligns to that new surname. Hopefully it won’t be too much longer

Dual-citizen applying for first UK passport from the US. Application being processed 7:20am on 22 April 2020 Documents received 2:13pm on 21 April 2020 Application submitted 6:40am on 5 April 2020 I received emails on 29 April and 14 May reminding me that applications are taking longer than usual and asking me not to contact the passport office.

Live in Austria and applied on line in mid-March. My old passport arrived in the UK (Liverpool Office) 3 weeks later. Web-site says being processed 1st May and still waiting. Tried calling as I need urgently to renew my work permit in Malaysia and was told they cannot give me any estimates of when I might receive my new passport. Seems the news on here is inconsistent in so far as waiting times vary tremendously. No alternative other than to wait.

Anyone know if those at the passport office will be taking advantage of the bank holiday on Monday? No doubt they will be...
clazsmiff
I’m sure they will and civil servants often get an extra day for the queens birthday too so some people take the Friday and some take the Tuesday so it might be quiet until Wednesday I am afraid 😟

Hello, I'm still waiting for my adult renewal name change due to marriage. Below is my timeline: March 7th application submitted March 7th application received March 16th documents received March 17th application being processed I haven't heard anything since, I've called the help line and they just tell me they unable to give any updates. It's been 3 months, we're due to fly out with work (if permitted) on the 11th August and I'm now very worried. Has anyone had any success calling the passport office and getting any information. Application was sent to the Liverpool office.

20 year old son studying in US applied for adult renewal 27 March. Had called on 26 March (after lockdown) and told it would take 4 weeks. Documents arrived 7 April, passport office registered they had them on 16 April and started processing on 27 April. Still in process. Academic year finished, son can't work on student visa, needing to find friends to stay with, during lockdown. He called a couple of times but they can't give any info on how long it will take.
