Renewal submitted 14th March 2022 Sent old passport back and it was received on 17th March. No change in status until 1st April when it moved to "Application being processed" Sat there until this morning (12th May) when it moved to "Application approved" and an email saying it would be printed and sent to me. Strangely Peterborough office is about 45 minutes down the road from me but I got allocated to Bootle.

Personally, I’ve had really quick service from Bootle. I was disappointed my child’s passport wasn’t sent to this office. Passport sent off beginning of April. 14 days total from application to passport delivered through my front door. Adult renewal, photo taken on IPhone.

My child’s renewal was changed to processing on 22/4. Not moved since. Are bootle one of the slower offices? I know some are coping better with the high numbers than other offices. Starting to panic already as the 10 weeks is the day after we should fly but it said 5 weeks when we applied so i booked the holiday.

First passport ever. Does anyone knows how long till receiving the document at home since approval? I sent my daughter's passport renewal to Bootle on 5th April 2022 - Nothing has been updated at all on the tracker (still says please send your old passport) so we're concerned it's been lost. Having a total nightmare trying to get hold of anyone to help. Can't book an emergency appt as we don't have her old passport so really don't know what to do. Call every other day and told a different story and given different advise every time. Tried to log it as lost twice but never received a reference number to confirm this has happened. According to the frequest text messages we receive in regards to the application, it will be cancelled altogether soon and no refund given. What can we do!?

For those ones that have sent the documentation, my application has been updated today with 'documents received'. They were actually received on the 17th May, so it has been 10 days in total since they received the documents until they acknowledged it on my application.

I had been posting my updates in Liverpool thread for the two passports (one child renewal, one new) I have needed. But as my other daughters went to Bootle I will continue it here. Latest update on new child passport is: Passport Approved Application online 3 May 2022 Royal Mail confirmed delivery to postroom (with a signature this time) – 5 May Documents officially received – 16th May Passport Approved - 02nd June Ill keep updating to give others a rough timeline.

Does anyone have any first hand experience of how long it takes for additional documents to be looked at for a ‘first child passport’. I was asked to provide my own birth certificate. Many thanks 🙏🏻

@ennevive I sent in another birth certificate for my son that was confirmed delivered by Royal Mail on 23rd May. We were told to give them a couple of weeks to get it scanned on the system, so I was expecting to have to call tomorrow to ensure they have it as you don’t get a ‘documents received’ notification for additional docs, but we received confirmation this morning that it’s been approved! I’m so happy as originally applied 20th March, but now the end is in sight (although I don’t want to jinx it!) One thing I did do after reading a post on here yesterday was complete the survey on the website as it has been suggested that many people have had approvals following this. I didn’t expect it to work and it might just be a coincidence, but I would say now that it’s definitely worth a go! If you go to the page where you enter the PEX number to track the progress the option to complete the survey is there. No need to put in your email address at the end either. When did you send in your birth certificate?

Hi NS2022, Thanks for your reply. This gives me hope. The document was received on Friday 27th of May (according to Royal Mail). I was unsure whether I would get a new ‘document received’ update. Hopefully my application is running appropriately 1 week behind yours. I was surprised that they approved your application on a Sunday. Maybe they’re working overtime to clear the backlog. Thanks for your update. Really helpful and reassuring.

I suspect that without the 4 day bank holiday weekend it would have come on either 1st or 2nd June, but just happy to have it now! 35 days, which seems to follow roughly the stated average waiting time for a first child passport.

Latest update on new child passport is: Passport Received Application online 3 May 2022 Royal Mail confirmed delivery to postroom (with a signature this time) – 5 May Documents officially received – 16th May Passport Approved – 02nd June Passport Printed - 06th June Passport Dispatched - 07th June Passport Received - 08th June I know some want to know when final docs you posted off get back, so will post that soon but from reading this and the threads, if you have a relatively normal application with no errors then my experience has been on the 3 passports I had to get (2 posted about here) a. It takes about 2 weeks for them to "receive" your docs once royal mail actually say they have delivered them. Additionally, there is no guarentee "signed for" actually gets a signature (2 of mine did, one didnt). b. For both renewals (one adult, one child) after acknowledging receipt, I had them back within a week or so. c. See above for first child. d. docs back seem to be unpredictable. For mine, my old passport was back very quick. For the child renewal it took about 3 weeks. For the above....we shall see. I hope this helps others.

Thought I would share here that my original application was to the bootle office but after 10 weeks of waiting out of the blue I was contacted by the Belfast office to send in addition documents. So offices could change. I’m not sure how in this day and age that it could be possible that someone waits for a passport for 3 months (that’s 1/4 of a year) and if this ever happens in any other developed countries. I was about to see my GP for depression just from the stress this is giving me!
