Due to the current situation the passport office has stated they are working with a skeleton staff. Therefore processing times are taking longer than normal. The date shown on our site is an average of the last 30 days so may include data from applications sent before lock down.
Post your experiences here for applications made since lock down to give others an idea of current situation.
Stay safe everyone.

Hopefully this may be of use to someone . . .
Other half did postal application (no idea why!) for adult renewal in mid May. Think the pre-addressed envelope had the Durham office on it.
Anyway the cheque was cashed on May 13th.
Received letter to say things were taking longer than usual on the 30 May.
Heard nothing more so getting panicky she tweeted them on the 12th June to ask how she could check the progress as she hadn't written the number from the form down when she sent it.
Twitter reply told her to contact the Liverpool office via email which she did. And in this message she said she was getting worried as she needed the passport imminently.
They didn't respond, however 2 days later she received another letter same as the first one (from an address in Southampton) telling her that things were taking longer than usual.
The following day (17th June) her passport arrived.
Don't know if the chase up made a difference but it's quite a coincidence if it didn't!
Applied on the 18th March for child first passport - sent to Liverpool office and I've just had a text to say the application has been approved! Exactly three months!

Hi guys!
Quick one - has anyone had the issue where you have to have an interview for a first UK passport? I've applied for mine start of March, processing March 20th and have had no update except for "it's with a technician at the Liverpool office". I escalated this and on a call today they've said that all interviews are paused indefinitely, and all new first UK passports require one. I never thought this was the case so would be good to know if anyone has a similar experience?
Hi All,
Just had the approved text and email for a child renewal from Durham. Phew
Application made 15th May
Docs sent 18th May
Old Passport received 26th May
Processing 26th May
ApproveD 19th June
I also had a call this morning from Glasgow caveats as her previous passport had a caveat I’m so once sent back from them it was approved the same day which I was impressed with.
I did chase up on Twitter yesterday which I believe helped.
Seems things are starting to move now though!
Na cave karinn
My onlime adult renewal went to Durham office
Process began 6/6. Passport delivered 19/6 by TNT
Old passport received today via royal mail basic delivery
Was entered as a standard renewal not an urgent case
Recommend a signed for service for the following reason.
Took two weeks in total of which one week was
delayed by P O delivering and getting signature
and passport office not officially acknowledging receipt
but under current conditions no complaints.
Was kept updated by text regularly almost daily
Only text from T N T was that your passports coming today
with a code to check tracking but didn't bother.
Overall was exceptionally happy as i had concerns I may not get it back in time for a booked holiday in mid-Sept
Good luck everyone and stay safe
Well done the passport office
It's a blue passport the icing on the cake
3 month wait for my first UK passport after naturalisation (no interview required)...

It seems to me that it is a lottery which depends on which office your passport application is sent to. There seems to be no whole-system prioritising going on, only in-office. Which is resulting in some people getting an amazingly fast turnaround, where as people like myself waiting 3 months.
Child renewal sent to Durham, really impressed with the turn around, and someone approving it at nearly 9pm!
Hopefully everyone's are moving along now.

Any paper form applications received!!! All im hearing is online stories. People who applied by paper form arent reveiving their passports!!!
Hi all,
Any idea how long it takes from application approved and "printing" passport to it being sent will take?
We are also traveling with another family who applied for a child renewal a few days before us. We need to pay the balance on our holiday on 28th. It's a nail-biting time!!!
Others' experiences would be appreciated! Thanks

@RobynH
My application was approved on Thursday, printed and sent yesterday. Assuming it'll be delivered early next week ☺️ I think the general trend I've seen is that the application is approved and then posted the following day.
Thanks forever waiting. Hope you're not waiting too long in this instance!
I’ve applied for my daughters first passport. Submitted application was received on 15th May. It’s been ‘processing’ since 28th May and no sign of anything.
I emailed the customer services and the responded saying the couldn’t give me any idea when it would be ready.
We are due to go away on 15th August 😫😫😫
Nightmare!
Has anybody had any joy with the Newport office? I’ve not seen much about there. I’m desperate to get my sons renewal back ASAP as we are due to fly at the start of July. I’ve spoken to the helpline twice and no help.

Has anyone had any luck chasing up their application on Twitter? Or any other means? Thanks
@9984Sarah I chased my passport over Twitter and that seemed to have made an impression, a few days later and the passport was approved. I am waiting for it to be printed and sent out. Not had an email or text since and it has been a few days.
I've just checked my inbox and there you have it!
Your new passport is on its way.
Well I’ve chased it 3 times now over the last 5 days, and although they have asked me to DM them, I then get a standard response. Awaiting the most recent response but not holding out much hope. I need it approved in the next week really.
@9984sarah I mentioned that I needed the supporting documents back for a visa application to be submitted next month, that MIGHT have made a change. I'd just make anything up that is very serious/important and see if that makes a change for you.
