We fly to Spain in 18 days and got a notification to say our old passport has been received on Thursday. Do you think it will be here on time? How long till applications are done after they notify you it’s been received. Thank you
It’s a child’s renewal

Child’s renewal……help!

That’s true about the two weeks to processing. We are just not one of the lucky ones that went straight to approved and when I’ve asked on the phone the team I spoke to just said they ‘are not briefed on the process so cannot comment’ apparently there are so many different systems they use.
They can’t answer why I received a further text/email to say my docs had been received 2 weeks after they were.
I’m the same as need to be back in work.
Fingers crossed for us all
Suzianne- funnily enough, our docs were confirmed as received on 14th July then on 28th July we had a further e-mail to say docs received again, then our status turned to processing, whilst at the same time my wife's went straight to application processed, passport printing, passport sent, all in 4 hours on same day. We just assumed my sons would follow suit and be with us comfortably by now!
I don't know what i'll do with myself when I no longer have this application status to check and refresh all day long!!!
So that is exactly the same as our application then! I’m a good couple of weeks behind you so I think I’ll be looking at a holiday in October now!
I keep saying I’m not going to spend my day checking but still do, just in case!
Well there seem to be plenty of inconsistencies regarding timings so I am not convinced it'll flow quite like that. Office location appears to be a big factor, which I find bizarre as these days geography isn't important. I am surprised that applications waiting aren't just sat on a centralised portal and they are picked off in submission date order by the next available agent regardless of where they are sat. Whilst my docs went to Glasgow they and my application are scanned onto the system so anyone, anywhere can process it.
Yes, we are very much eyes on October half term now sadly.
Me! I applied 27/07 and documents received by them 29/07 but nothing further, not even been put into processing yet by Peterborough. I feel like the application has been misplaced but no one will listen when I call!
@lisparks we applied on 26th July, passport received 30th at Bootle. No updates yet ..
I think we must be close !! Judging by timelines other users have posted we should expect to go into processing by Monday. Good luck .. what a wait though !
Fingers crossed judging by some others. Just find it strange that most are received documents and passed for processing the same or next day 🤷♀️ I feel like there should be a little update in between like ‘we are just busy we haven’t forgotten you!’
Passport due to be delivered today so 5 weeks altogether. Child replacement so no new documents but lives overseas.

Think mines been forgotten about no updates at all after processing contacted them on twitter and just got a standard reply saying wait the 10 weeks as it states 😕
We are due to travel on Tuesday but still no passport from the Peterborough office
Application 5th July
Documents received 9th July
Application processing 21st July
I have managed to speak to the processing team this week and apparently it was passed to an examiner from pre-examination phase on the 6th August. However phoned again today and spoke to someone who suggested it is still waiting to be assigned to an examiner. I keep getting told it is a 10 week turn around from receipt of documents and we are only at 6 weeks.
Just thought I would let you know my application was approved today. No signs of printing and posting but now I know it’s been looked at the next step should be long. Have you heard anything?
Just checked mine is still processing
There's definitely significant anomalies between offices based on last few posts. We submitted 5 weeks ago today and been processing 3 weeks tomorrow. My wife's (submitted same time) has been back 2.5 weeks now.
My sister just received her daughters renewal (abroad) 4 weeks after submitting.
I sent to Bootle and still in "documents received" 3 weeks on.
@Dt1901 - extra frustrating for you guys to have two very different experiences.
I read on twitter that there are actually two systems. the new one will take an application from approved to printed etc within a few hours and the applications that go through the old system can be stuck in processing for weeks.
I also saw someone who sent their adult renewal to bootle this month and received it a couple of days later.
Feels like a lottery right now.
That's the system my wife's followed but also mine last September. Maybe they can't use that for children's passports due to extra safeguarding checks that must be made as I've not heard of any adults in this position.
That would make a great deal more sense.
We are also stuck. Son (19) passport renewal sent in on 29 July, no update other than 'documents received'. He needs his passport soon as he needs to sort a visa to study overseas.
Can you change your application to fast-track once submitted? Or is there anything he can do to speed it up?
Hi,
I’ve also recently submitted a child renewal application to bootle
Application sent and received 09/8/21
Docs received 12/08 - nothing since and supposed to be going away 27th aug.
Anyone on similar time scale with any updates ?
Thanks
Hi, I've finally had an update about 2pm today that our apication after over 4 weeks has moved from processing to approved.
Anyone had recent experience of how long from that it takes to actually receive it? Reason being, my wife and daughter fly Tuesday morning and ideally my son would go with them, but they are making us sweat by leaving it to bitter end! My chance has gone as I'm back in work next week.
That’s such a shame. From date of approval it took 48 hours for my sons to be printed and delivered to my door. Hope this helps.
Thanks. We had a further update to say it's been sent. My wife's father/kids grandfather lives there and she's not seen him in 20 months. Whilst I'm gutted to miss a family holiday I'll be even more so if my son misses it by a day and has to stay back with me.
Really hoping it comes by Monday now.
Really hope your sons passport makes it in time
Been told mines is in examination area they recieved documents in glasgow office August 2nd. Does anyone know how long this stage takes fly out the 6th of September. Worried with the bank holiday weekend if offices will be closed as well
So to update, we phoned TNT last Monday to be told that as the passport was marked as dispatched after 4pm it would have missed the courier and therefore it had no prospect of coming that day.
My wife and daughter flew at 6.30am on the Tuesday and the passport, after 6 weeks, landed at 8.40am. Incredibly frustrating that after all that time it came down to such fine margins.
What adds to frustration is a friend was in same location at same time and realised early August that their childs passport expired and submitted it and then phoned everyday to push it along due to their urgent need and had it back in 2 weeks!! Whether that actually made any difference or they were just lucky I don't know, however it tells me that the system is all over the place. The wait should be consistent for all applicants.
They returned home yesterday and we have now booked to all go in October, so just over 7 weeks.
Hi
I submitted my sons renewal on 9-9-21
I have sent the old passport back which was received on 15 September. We are due to fly out on the 16 October, is this do able? Also even though I have sent it as standard delivery does anyone know of it is possible to upgrade to the fast track service, as after reading this chat I may not come in time. I sent my sons old passport back to Bootle, I imagine they’re the ones who’s dealing with his renewal. Thanks all
I don't think there's any way to know Summers Sun. I applied and sent mine and my son's renewals on 27th August but there's been no update since they say they received them on 6th sep.
You can't upgrade to the fast track service without requesting to cancel your application in writing, getting your docs back then trying to get a fast track appointment. That could take weeks again.
Theres nobody to help.
We fly 14th Oct.
