Just spoke to my husband, he told me to stop stressing because we have three weeks left until we go bit o can’t even think about packing or what I need to buy!!

Leahmca - I know how you feel, I was meant to be on my flight tonight and I haven’t got tracking info. Was desperately hoping it would come tomorrow but that’s clearly not going to happen. Said 3 weeks when I applied but will have taken 5 (and that’s if it comes before Monday).

Amy93 - sending you a hug too. I am that stressed I am having a meeting with my manager tomorrow, as I usually don't stress this bad so she just wants to make sure I am okay in person, won't be telling her I almost cried after her message earlier I am that stressed. I have 3 days at work from tomorrow, so hopefully that will keep my mind busy. Leahmca - my husband says the same actually all my family say the same, but I just can't bring myself to pack or write lists either, just incase I have to unpack. I know in my head I do have enough time, but I have lost faith in the passport office Lauraf1991 - some people haven't been able to track till the morning their passport is out for delivery,will keep my fingers crossed for you that it arrives soon. My son's passport is awaiting examination now so fingers crossed I have an update soon

I don’t know how you count working days, but I count from the day after they were signed for, which would make this your 8th working day.

Counting the same way, now the 8th day is gone, so not 6-7. Plus they had the whole (working) day after RM delivered it. To some extent I can understand the time needed to check/process first passport applications, but surely renewals should be quick and easy. Especially, if nothing other than photo has changed. When you renew the driving license, only need to confirm all your details online, it even grabs passport photo and you get it in the post few days later (and only then you send the old one back cut/cancelled).

How did they send you the tracking? I haven’t received any tracking 3 days later and I’m overseas. TNT said nope & DHL said the same.

Finally plucked up the courage and contacted the HMPO - awaiting standard checks by examiner. Not really much further on. When a passport enters processing does it automatically become ‘awaiting checks by examiner’ or is this another stage? I assume standard checks could then result in enhanced checks if needed

Application approved 1:28am on 11 March 2022 Documents received 8:12am on 5 March 2022 Application received 9:01am on 22 February 2022 Identity details received 9:01am on 22 February 2022 Email sent to person confirming your identity 11:04pm on 21 February 2022 Ask someone to confirm your identity 10:59pm on 21 February 2022 Application submitted 10:59pm on 21 February 2022 Notice the complete lack of 'processing 'stage and extremely early hour of approval. So - there is still hope.

Leahmca - I think processings it’s awaiting checks by the examiners. Even if they pick it up it won’t change status until it’s approved. I asked them as mine has been processing for a while now :/ I’ve heard “it’s awaiting examiners check, once they pick up, and approve it, this could take a few days, you’ll get an update to say it’s approved” Really frustrating ;(

Just had a callback from a lovely lady at HMPO. She couldn't tell much about mrs first passport application, just that it is awaiting for examiner to pick up. We travel on 14th April so still have some time.

I wonder why some go into processing and others don't :S

I can’t tell you all how angry I am. Got home from the gym and had a letter - felt it, felt like a passport, ripped it open excitedly, it was the old one. It’s come back before the new one. I cried in frustration for about 10 minutes.

Crazy8 This is interesting as my application went in on the 21st - I have my virtual interview Sunday - so a quick question how long after interview was your application approved. I am hoping approval next week?

lauraf1991 - literally the same. Just had the old passport and photocopy of my passport back but still no new passport despite them having sent it on Monday morning apparently? I've never known the documents be returned before the new passport gets delivered!

To anyone who's still worried in this forum, I hope my experience below will provide some info. Application is for a first adult passport following naturalisation. I submitted my naturalisation certificate and current foreign passport. This week I also called HMPO every other day and submitted enquiries using the online form stating that I needed a passport back (either the British one or my foreign one) in time for a mandatory appointment on 1 April. Not sure if my persistence helped but it's all one can do. I was also promised call-backs that never materialised. Application approved - 11 March 2022 Application being processed - 23 February 2022 Documents received - 13 February 2022 (note that Royal Mail delivered the documents on 4 February) Application received - 31 January 2022 Identity details received - 31 January 2022 Email sent to person confirming your identity - 31 January 2022 Ask someone to confirm your identity - 31 January 2022 Application submitted - 31 January 2022 Now let's just wait for the next stage of the stress - i.e. dealing with TNT etc.

I haven’t had anything from TNT - I don’t think it will be delivered until next week sometime. Honestly I can’t believe it. Somebody mentioned to me that they tend to do batch delivery so if you miss a batch you have to wait for the next one. They don’t deliver everyday. Not sure if that’s true but it may account for some of the waiting.
