@meganmc Worth checking but I imagine you’ll just need to send a letter to say “cancel application” - surely after that, it’s done! If I was in your shoes I would fast track personally. Especially if it’s a case of sending a letter and that’s that. I wish I had :(

JMS - You aren’t the only one, my documents were delivered the 28th February (signed for etc) also and still waiting for the ‘documents received update’ Let’s hope it’s soon! (First adult passport application after Naturalisation)

@ rcgd It looks like something was broken in Bootle on that Monday.

Amy93 - you would like to think it is as straight forward as that, but I have little faith. Hope you get sorted soon :)

Woke up to my other first child passport approval. That's 5 weeks from application received and no processing stage. So that's now 3/5 done. They're really dragging this all out 🤦 Still waiting for my 2 child renewals. 27 days in processing so far 😫

I’ve been waiting 5 business days and still no tracking from DHL. You get all different agents saying different things and no straight forward answer. This service is frustrating. Not sure how everyone has different time frames. Passport for someone who applied after me gets sent and tracking available next day and I got an agents telling me to wait a week.

Yes, the randomness is frustrating. There’s really no point in us posting our timelines, as there’s no ‘system’ to follow and have some expectations based on the past performance.
viksnid
Exactly and they just brush you off and tell you something is happening and nothing happens. “DHL will pick it up today” haven’t picked it up and haven’t received tracking. I’m overseas with no passport and no visa atm. They don’t even have any urgency.

Yey lkt1990 - some progress at least!! Weird that you woke up to it! Do you think they’re working overnight?!
jespop30
I think they are working over night to try and get rid of the backlog that has been created. I have seen several people say they were approved at 1 and 4am.

Just called again. Progress team super busy and didn’t answer as usual. Another agent another story “DHL have picked it up and you should have got a text” no text and no contact from DHL. “Oh, please submit an online enquire form” I’m due to travel on 6th May and need to transfer my visa. Such a stressful process.

My passport is apparently out for delivery today - 5 weeks and 1 day from the day I applied. Somebody on the phone had the verve to tell me I’d done pretty well getting it that quickly - I was fairly speedy to point out it said 3 weeks turnaround when I applied.
leahmca
Lauraf1990 - you’ve given me a little bit of hope this morning. I was also 3 weeks turnaround when I applied and if I am on your time frame of 5wk 1 day, then I’ll still be ok for my holiday! How long were you In Processing? I don’t know why I even check this forum - my passport is at Peterborough! But i think that this point we are all just gathering all the info we can!
jespop30
Lauraf1991 - About time! When was it printed and sent out? Leahmca - my son's first passport has been in processing for 27 days too, it has been in examination since Friday, so I am hoping I have an update soon.
lauraf1991
It was apparently printed and sent last Wednesday. I find it hard to believe it’s taken 6 whole days to get here but there we go!
leahmca
Jespop - you and I are waking up tomorrow to some news (hopefully!) Laura 1991 - bet you won’t leave the house today! Let us know when it’s in Your hand I live in NI so I imagine postage will be even more of a nightmare, we seem to get forgotten about over here and delivery always takes 1-2 days longer than the main land
viksnid
Mine was printed and sent last Thursday, received no tracking. Hopefully mine comes soon. One person from HMPO said “sometimes you don’t get tracking” what kind of service is that.
amy93
Hope everyone gets some good news! Fingers and toes are crossed! Mine is still processing but what I do now, is call and ask if it's been assigned to an examiner yet. So far the answer is no but hoping soon it will be a yes! Once it's with an examiner it's a quicker process (so they say!). Lauraf1991 - hope it comes asap!
Frustrated_1
Hi Amy. I'm a very similar situation as yourself; awaiting examination since 28 Feb. How can you find out if you've been allocated an examiner? I keep getting mix messages from customer service
jms
Phoned them today with the RM Special Delivery tracking number, and was told that they are not sure why docs haven’t been linked to the application after 12 days and she’ll escalate it (whatever that means).
jespop30
Anyone know how long an application is in examination for?
amy93
@Frustrated_1 - I call this number: 03001231973 (in case it doesn't let me type it, zero three zero zero one two three one nine seven three) and I say 'I want to check if my passport has been allocated an examiner' and give them my PEX number. So far it's not gone to examination :( Jespop30 - When I asked they said it's usually with an examiner for a couple of days, and at that point, if they need more info, they'll ask you for it. It speeds up once it's with an examiner. I have heard horror stories of course :( x In my head their system is a whole room full of bags and they do a bloody lucky dip each day!
jespop30
That's the number I always call and they seem to know a bit more than the other number. My son's went into examination on the 11th March, so hopefully I will hear soon, and fingers crossed they track down my marriage certificate in the office as the lady yesterday took the tracking number and apparently the examiner can request it is found. The first four passports I have done arrived quickly but this one is taking weeks.

Adult Renewal Application history: Documents received 2:12pm on 23 February 2022 Application received 8:05pm on 16 February 2022 Application submitted 8:05pm on 16 February 2022 On 3rd March I got an email saying my passport was damaged and that I need to send a signed letter in that explains how the damage occurs at which point my application will be reassessed. There was very minor damage to the passport and I'd used it so many times in this condition I just assumed it would be fine. Anyway, I sent this letter immediately, tracked and it was signed for by the Bootle office at 8:39am on 4th March. It still hasn't updated to show that the additional documents have been received on my application. Customer services weren't much help on trying to get an update. I need to travel May 12th which I thought was enough time considering the wait time was 3 weeks when I applied. But now I'm starting to worry this might not be enough time. Any advice?
