Amy93 - the only way to change it this close if one of us got COVID. She did say as it's hit 10 weeks, they will be able to speed it up, so we will see. Thanks hunni x

I was going to suggest this but thought better of posting it! What proof is required if you cancel because of COVID?

Djbdane - I have no idea, someone said they didn't require proof but I can't see them amending fee free without proof. Maybe just a positive lft, as you no longer need to follow up with a PCR test now.

Well cases are high again at the moment and rising - so it wouldn't be as if the cases were low and all of a sudden 'you got it' - maybe have a read of the booking documents see what's required - of course sods law will mean you cancel because of COVID and it arrives in time anyway!

When I ring passport office tomorrow, as lady on the phoned advised me too, will see what they say. Will also be telling them how unimpressed I am, as every week for the past few weeks I have asked about fast tracking the application and every time I have been told, I don't need to as it will be here within plenty of time, well we are suppose to fly in just over 14 days and I am no closer to recieving it.

Jespop30 - absolutely! Hope the call goes well, let us know how it goes 🤞 Shocking this whole system! ☹️

Im new to this site and worried in hearing all your stories. Ive been caught by the passport needs to not be more than 10 years since issue before travel - Realised last week that issued in April even though it expires in late November. Travelling out to Italy on 25th April and 10 year since issue on 24th... didn't want to risk it so have applied for renewed passport - fingers crossed. People here talk about ringing and speaking to people whom can help sometimes.... what is the number you ring and what are best times to ring? I either have a gnarl number whom seem to suggest they tell you nothing or a number I can't get through on - useful to have a number to Liverpool which might be useful. Thanks

Like many here, I've been quite stressed about the times and, most importantly, lack of updates/info by the Passport Office. My application was for a first adult passport after naturalisation and I just received my passport today. If it helps anyone, my process was as follows: Passport delivered by TNT - 21 March 2022 (I never received any updates from TNT but the TNT tracker started showing my passport in their system from 18 March) Supporting returned by Royal Mail - 16 March Passport printed - 14 March 2022 Application approved - 11 March 2022 Application being processed - 23 February 2022 Documents received - 13 February 2022 (Royal Mail actually delivered the documents on 4 February) Application submitted and received - 31 January 2022

I have just rang for an update on my 2 child renewals (applied Feb 5th and processing since Feb 16th). They are now in examination. How long is examination taking? Does anyone know? Or is it another lottery? I asked if she had any ideas, and she just repeated the 10 week thing which is no good as our 10 weeks fulls on Easter weekend 5 days before we are due to travel!! I asked about cancelling and applying for a fast track and she said that's taking 3-4 weeks 😳 I'll ring again next Monday if we don't hear anything and either start the cancellation process or try and stick it out. We travel 4 weeks Thursday. I can't believe 2.5 months may not be enough time to get a passport!!

That was the fastest I have ever had a call back from the progress team. The call back was put in yesterday and they have just rung back. Apparently there are 3 alerts on the application, well 4 now as she has put another one on, and I should have an update in the coming days. There is no note from the examiner that they are waiting on anything either. She isn't sure why it's taking so long especially as I sent other passport applications to same office and they all came back quickly. I get the feeling the alerts aren't even doing anything, if there were already 3 on the application, with no update from examiner.

Hi all, looking for some guidance / hope. We are waiting for my daughters first child passport to arrive as we are due to travel next Saturday 2nd April. Documents were signed for on 7th Feb in Liverpool but not updated to ‘documents received’ until 15 working days later on 25th Feb. Moved to ‘application being processed’ on 10th March and has been like that for the past 11 days. I’ve called a couple of times and they say there is no further guidance they can give until 10 weeks has passed. Has anyone whose documents were received after 25th Feb received their first child passport? Or any advice about anything I can do to get it in the next 10 days :( Thanks!

Finally an update to printed - timeline so far - notice the long delay between approval and printed - so if you're desperate don't assume an approval means it's a day or two away from being in your hands. Passport printed 1:33pm on 21 March 2022 Application approved 2:11pm on 13 March 2022 Documents received 9:04am on 5 March 2022 Application received 8:30pm on 21 February 2022 Identity details received 7:59pm on 21 February 2022 Email sent to person confirming your identity 7:35pm on 21 February 2022 Ask someone to confirm your identity 7:32pm on 21 February 2022 Application submitted 7:32pm on 21 February 2022

I have three alerts/urgent note on my application as well but that does not seem to do anything. I've been told that it is in examination and nothing has been flagged but they can't tell me what's taking so long to approve. 49 days and counting...

My son's has been in examination since the 11th March and hasn't moved forward. His application has been over 10 weeks. Don't think we are going away on the 4th of April.

After being approved on the 17th, my passport has moved to printed earlier today. Next step - TNT! Shows as due to be delivered on 23rd. ETA: if you use your PEX number in their tracking, it will show you the TNT ref number.

I sent two adult passport renewal, one went to Liverpool and the other went to Durham. Here's my timeline For Liverpool: Application Submitted: 24 Feb 2022 Application Received: 24 Feb 2022 Documents Received: 5 Mar 2022 Application Approved: 5 Mar 2022 Passport Printed And Sent 7 Mar 2022 So It took only 11 days For Durham: Application Submitted: 24 Feb 2022 Application Received: 24 Feb 2022 Documents Received: 11 Mar 2022 Application Approved: 15 Mar 2022 Passport Printed And Sent 17 Mar 2022 It took 21 days Apparently the reason why Durham took so long was because all international passports are also processed in Durham and it's also their main office. This is according to the phone operator when I called them.

I’ve had an application ‘in processing’ since 25 Feb and one since 28 Feb and no sign of the passports. Documents received 8 Feb. Hope you get an update soon but based on the ‘in processing’ times I’ve seen you may be wise to see if it is possible to move your trip. They only seem to move quick if they miss out the ‘in processing’ stage as one of my kids did.

So as mentioned earlier, I had a phone call from the progress team, at 12.45pm and by 3.11pm my son's application was approved. So now just the wait to see when it is due to arrive. Due to fly in 13 days so we will see, especially as there are various times from application being approved to it being printed.
