I called the passport office and got through the Royal Mail escalations team, and just about 2 hours ago, Passport Office confirmed they have my documents (via SMS). Now the hard part begins, getting them to review and approve my son’s passport. Hope you were also able to get some sort of confirmation today.

That's good, do you mean escalations team at the passport office or at Royal mail? I couldn't get through to the passport office today and whenever I call royal mail it just cuts off half way through their automated message. It's driving me crazy now, just want to know it's not lost otherwise I'll have to amend the application to a lost passport one.

Spoke to the escalation team in Royal Mail and separately the Passport Office as well. Guy in Royal Mail told me 99.99% of the time, it's just a matter of slow updates and rarely the documents are missing. When I checked the tracker for the Royal Mail, it is still not updated, but Passport Office have now confirmed they have received it. I suggest calling them in the early mornings (Passport office and Royal mail), they are easier to get a hold of compared to later on in the day.

Great thank you, I'll try again today. Whenever I've tried Royal mail the line just cuts off. What did you say to the passport office? Perhaps your call triggered something off for you to receive the text that it's been received. When I called them they said I've got to leave it 14 working days.

After a call back from passport office today I've finally had the text saying they've got the old passport! At least I know it's there and can sit and wait now.

How long did it take for the passport office to send the text to say they had received the old one? I'm still waiting for them to text me about my son's even though royal mail said it was signed for last Tuesday. Thanks

Hi Tracey, I posted it on 19th June and just received it today but I think that's because I called them, I explained I think it might be lost as it hadn't been signed for on the royal mail website. It might be worth giving them a call. Misbah -I called them around 4pm yesterday and they called back around midday today.

Thanks @debs55. I called them today but they wouldn't even take the passport application number to check. They said just to wait as they are very busy!

I sent my application on the 22/06 and today at 6.30 I received a message that they have received my old passport (it took 10 days)

Just received some documents I sent for the application today, should be receiving the passport in the next couple of days. Our case was a little urgent as we were relocating and my partner’s visa was expiring very soon. Application submitted for child renewal on 20th June; passport received today. Son's renewal submitted on 20th June and only just at the process stage.

My child’s first passport has been approved today after submitting on 31st May. I will post a full timeline when we receive it.
