I am still waiting for my sons first passport to even be approved after sending a total of 22 documents of evidence for their consideration. I am a British Citizen from birth and my son born abroad in Turkey has faced great difficulty obtaining a UK passport.

UK citizen by descent through both my parents.
I sent my mothers full UK birth certificate, my own birth certificate, marriage certificate, expired Australian passport and my current Australian passport (not a photocopy)
The main time consumer for me was waiting on postage.
My documents arrived at HMPO on 29th Jan and my passport was approved only a few days later.

I applied to renew my passport as it was damaged and I didn’t want to risk it, but was flying in 21 days. This was the current expected wait time so I chanced it and ended up receiving it in 17 thankfully!

Very good and efficient. Had to send extra documents which were not recorded as logged on the tracker. Information that interview was needed cam on Saturday. The office is open Saturday and Sunday so was able to arrange the interview for the first day available.

Surprisingly fast. Had my photos made Saturday morning, and was able to to get the application in and catch the post to send off my old passport all before noon on Saturday. My new passport (with extra pages too) arrived by 10:05am on Wednesday. I hadn't paid for express handling either so really impressed it was so quick!
