Recent UK Passport Applicant Timelines

Submitted on Thursday - photo good, identity verified straight away . Received at passport office on the Friday , approved on the Monday, printed on the Wednesday and delivered on the Thursday

Applied on the Monday, sent back my old passport on Tuesday, signed for tracked, and received both passports on Friday. Standard service, normal passport not extended number of pages.

Only use International Express postage if applying from Australia. Some PO staff might encourage you to use Registered for security but this is aVERY slow option.

Getting the photo to specification was difficult, cannot take at home. Australia Post staff struggled but eventually got there. Stressful when new Feb rules were late communicated and flying in 10 weeks!

$44 + optional $37.50 insurance We applied for UK passport renewal from Australia. Online application and photos done at home following guidelines and uploaded to application. Total cost for 2 $525 (return courier delivery charge included) We had to send back old UK passports and chose to send current Aus Passports (rather than photocopied pages) as supporting documentation. Sent express tracked delivery from PO and chose insurance. ($44 + $37.50). Continual updates received regarding delivery of documents/processing and return delivery. New passports received exactly 14 days later and return of supporting documentation 17 days later. So total cost was approx $596 aus for 2 renewal of UK passports with delivery and insurance. Process was very straightforward as we still had old passports to send with application. Hope this is helpful to others.

Applied on line 14/1/26 15/1/26 Got passport photos and uploaded to application. 15/1/26 Photocopied each page of my Australian Passport and sent by express mail with expired passport to UK. 20/1/26 Documents received in UK. 22/1/26 Application approved. 23/1/26 Passport printed 30/1/26 Passport received in Australia.

All went really well and much quicker than expected.

Everything was seamless. Much quicker than expected. $40 intl express Aust Post to send old passport plus £31 DHL express to send new passport and return old one

Had to send in another countries passport as dual national, once received process was quick. All items sent by Royal Mail Tracked which is costly but efficient.
