Applications whilst locked down

My application was done online and approved last Wednesday the 1st July. The new passport was printed and sent at 8pm that night. Today the 6th July I am still waiting for the new one to show up. Is this normal? Or should I being to worry its got lost in the post? Do we get any tracking information at all?

I am yet to receive the passport but have missed something from Royal Mail today, was unsure if they are still using TNT or now using Royal mail? Good luck everyone

Still waiting for a child renewal submitted online 21st May. Application submitted – 21st May ID details received – 29th May Application details received – 29th May Documents received – 5th June Application being processed – 10th June We travel on the 31st July. I was sure it would be done by now looking at all the responses here.. anyone else been waiting this long?

Finally got delivered by TNT on Tuesday 7/07/2020.Not the best courier company. Adult Renewal. so it took a week to arrive? wow that's quite lengthy.. were you able to track it?

I spoke to the passport office yesterday who said I should receive a tracking email any day. Mine was printed/posted on Saturday.

Applied a month ago for two child renewals. One was was approved very fast - (Peterborough): Passport printed and sent 11:47am on 22 June 2020 Application approved 10:11am on 22 June 2020 Application being processed 9:46am on 17 June 2020 Documents received 7:27pm on 11 June 2020 Application received 3:06pm on 6 June 2020 Identity details received 3:06pm on 6 June 2020 Email sent to person confirming your identity 12:58pm on 6 June 2020 Ask someone to confirm your identity 12:56pm on 6 June 2020 Application submitted 12:56pm on 6 June 2020 I am still waiting on the second one (Durham). Was submitted at exactly the same time and was marked as being processed since 12th June.

Finally got ours approved what a ride, we fly Monday so has been a massive panic, genuinely think if your not flying with in 2 weeks they don't really care. I had the local MP involved didnt make a blind bit of difference, best way was to get the twitter team onboard they seemed to make things move more, ive rang them, emailed them, MP has rang and emailed been horrendous. Eventually twitter team asked me to prove flights which were booked last year. Chased again today and the actual examiner rang me and told me she was going to approve now and get sent out, with in 10 minutes it was done she even sent it track and trace and emailed me the reference separately, it's usually TNT so this was relief also. They did have my travel date as the 21/07 despite me telling them twice it was the 13/07. Good luck everyone its a lottery no real order to how they are being processed and this was Glasgow office. Finally received child renewal. We made three applications on the same day. All sent to Glasgow, two received within two weeks, this one we have emailed, contacted on Twitter, contacted our MP and contacted the complaints team - this seemed to be most effective. We were due to fly in the 17th. Ironically, the day they approved it TUI cancelled our flight. @debsyh that’s a similar timeline to ours except we’ve been in processing since 10th June and no progress since. I’ve emailed my MP and if that doesn’t help I’ll phone complaints until they sort it out.

@Pipine I would ring the complaints line. The guy there was really helpful and gave me his number to ring back if nothing happened.

Ever so grateful for this website and those who were kind in sharing their experiences. It gave me reassurance and peace of mind. Here's my timeline so it hopefully will help others waiting. Application submitted: 11:33 27 May Application recieved: 11:34 27 May Documents recieved: 9:25 03 June Application Approved 9:32 29 June Passport Printed & sent:12:15 1 July Tracking number was sent via text by TNT 3 July. Passport recieved: 07 July. I was able to track my passport at each stage when TNT updated. All in all grateful for the great service during this busy time. Hope everyone recieves their passport soon.

My childs old passport was requested to get sent to Belfast…..My nearest office would be Peterborough. Not seen anyone else sending theirs to Belfast – should I be worried? That was yesterday, ive got until 14th August to get mine back! Eeeek!

Debsyh how long did it take for complaints to call you back as I’m waiting for call back now

Passport received today, very relieved. This site has been useful and a recap on things I did: - use a date a week earlier than you need to fly (unless you get asked for proof!) because you still need to be able to plan for a holiday and enter API details etc - contact the HMPO line and just state 'I need to speak to someone' when the voice comes on asking what you're calling about. I always got through within a few minutes - when they don't help with you your query (inevitable) tell them you want put through to the complaints team - all the while, DM their twitter account (only once because sending more than one resets you to the back of queue) - give them all the details on that DM and date of travel. and also email your MP to get them to act (again give all the details) you could also email the passport office in which case i'm told the liverpool@hpmo.gov.uk one is best but I didn't actually do that to be honest, if your holiday is 3 weeks or more away, you should let others do all this first. doing the above can get things turned around in a week, but it is annoyingly time consuming! I called and asked to speak to complaints this morning and they took all my details and said the complaints would call me back ?

Is that correct or do I need to call them again and demand to be put straight through

@jamesd1974 I was due to have a call back, no one called me back within 48 hours(which is how long they said it would be) so I rang back and got out through.

Will call again tommorow then Go away end of month and Glasgow still ain’t saying they received old passport since 26th 2 weeks ago and they have I sent via special delivery

Hi Everyone, After a long 2 and a half months looks like the new passport is on it's way. I'm a Brit living in the US, so everything was done from overseas. The first mistake I made was sending my old passport Registered mail through United States Postal service. Application submitted: April 23rd Application received: April 23rd Documents received: June 12th Application Processing: June 15th Application Approved: July 8th Passport Printed And Sent: July 9th I spent multiple times on the phone which didn't do a lot. I made a lot more headway filling out the form as the day after I sent two messages it was approved. Good luck and thanks to everyone for there updates.
