Application has updated to ‘Approved’ today. Thankfully I appear to have avoided the dreaded ‘Processing’ state. Hoping this means I’ll get my passport within the 10 weeks, but I’ll only relax when it’s in my hands. I’m curious if my call on Friday prompted the next stage or if was going to happen anyway…

Flying on June 11th, lost all hope after finding out my next door neighbours took 14 weeks to come back today. I think it’s absolutely disgusting that they can even call this a public service.
That's great news!
We have to send a letter explaining exactly what my husband told the operator re his birth certificate and arrival to Australia. Hopefully it doesn't take them as long to receipt the letter as it did the identity forms!
@xfxrxhx I strongly advise you to call or submit an online query for your application. With the volumes they are managing, individual requests are falling through the cracks.
FYI a day after approval (16th May) my passport has moved to printed and sent (17th May). Since I’m on the other side of the world I guess it could take a week to ship to Hong Kong. 44 days (3rd April) since I applied and 39 days (8th April) since they received my documents, home stretch I hope…
Hi all, during my application 20th April, (fly june 18). I contemplated fast tracking as less than gov issued 10 weeks. Glad I went normal cheapest route. I know its stressful but leave as long as you can and try not be tempted to pay over the odds for this service. My app went to we need more info after docs were received, due to ( I was told) possible mis spelling of surname on app (bollocks), anyway had to send birth certificate down to corby ( app was at peterborough) doh! needn't have worried as was approved couple days later in all just 23 days start to finish. Sooo calm down relax it will sort itself out. At the moment 10 weeks seems enough time but please make sure you triple check all details on app before submitting AND take pics of each page etc. Good luck have a great holiday.
That's good news! I had to send in proof of parentage so sent wedding certs last week... signed for 10th but not yet acknowledged so can't upgrade yet🙈 we're due to fly 25th May so I'm beginning to get twitchy !
They needed name change proof that's why I sent marriage certificates

leesa160 approx 8-10 days to docs received after this another couple days till approved and printed got my passport 2 days later before I even got text to say on its way.
Applied renewal online 16 April
Old passport signed for 20 April
Old passport marked as received 10 may
Approved 12 may
Printed 16 may
Received 17 may.
Had photo taken at local photography shop entered digital code which loaded onto passport online application.
Seems as others say once old passport is marked as received on tracker it goes through fairly quickly. Nearly 3 weeks waiting in the post room seems the biggest wait, sheer weight of applications it seems.
Has anyone been to Durham without an appointment and got any help at all? My sons docs are there and have been there for a while and have not been linked to his application and we travel on Sunday and can’t upgrade without the docs linked.
I will go up there on the chance if others have experienced getting anywhere with this. (It’s a 5.5 hour drive from me 🙄.
Thanks in advance.

Adult Renewal sent from Overseas (Hong Kong). Shipping set to take 5 days for a total of 7 weeks, fingers crossed.
Am wondering since it’s relatively expensive to ship via air freight to HK, if my old passport will be included with the new one?

7 weeks total time, 6 weeks from receipt of documents by HMPO.
No sign of my old passport which I do actually need back. Anyone got any idea how long documents/old passports are taking to be sent?
Good luck to all those waiting.
Hi MAXNRG, I just got my old passport back a month to the day after my new one was delivered. Had somewhat given up but it did arrive.
Sent both mine and hubby's renewal at the same time, both received 12th April, mine to Glasgow - took 17 days. Still waiting for hubby's, still processing at Durham since 29th April - almost 4 weeks and a total of 6 weeks since applied.
Need to pay balance of holiday in 3 weeks, won't pay if not received.
😔sent countless emails, live chat useless, and phone says only dealing with customers due to fly in 2 weeks. Absolute nightmare. How come passports applied for after his have been received??
I sent off 2 child renewal applications via post office check and send (paper applications) both at the same time to the Durham office and as I’ve had no success with the online tracker, despite completing the form at least 3 times, I phoned the passport office helpline to ensure that they had both been received as I only had confirmation of 1 application received. The man on the phone was lovely and checked the status of both applications and said that I should receive the passports within the 10 week period which starts with submission.
Submitted 12th April
Received 19th April (received 1 text message not 2)
Awaiting examiner 26th April
Still waiting, application submitted Feb 26. I see HMPO phone message has changed, and it either boots you out, or tells you the same status update as online and then, boots you out. Can't seem to actually get a real person. Fed up.
Here's a petition I found to investigate the passport office for inconsistencies (incompetence basically). https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/608931
I managed to get through to a real person this morning; I didn’t wait to listen to the automated message at the beginning, just pressed 8 then when it started speaking again I pressed 3 and it put me in a queue.
I was in the queue for about half hour before they answered but that seems quite quick compared with the experiences of some people on here
Thank you for your message. Tried 6 times to can but just automated message. I will try your method. Isn't it frustrating? Sent 2 renewals the same time, one back in 17 days, nearly 7 weeks in and no more updates since 20th April where its still processing. Need to pay for holiday in 3 weeks which I won't be doing if it doesn't arrive 😳
