Overseas application courier tracking

Hi, I sent my passport 8 days ago for an overseas renewal and everything has been very speedy so far. However the passport office have confirmed my new passport has been sent but not provided any tracking details. Is that normal? As an overseas applicant you pay for a courier so I would expect to have tracking, especially as Dutch delivery people have a habit of leaving parcels outside my front door
