Recent UK Passport Applicant Timelines

HMPO are useless, approved one sons passport with documents requested at application. Asked for two separate additional documents, a letter with grandparents information which already had (birth and marriage certificates), and fathers birth certificate when had already issued my renewal.................. They are disorganised, obstructive and intransigent. They need to get their process aligned so people do not have to courier multiple sets of documents with significant cost. Seems to be at the discretion of people rather than a defined process which should be!!

I was challenged on the photo when I initially submitted, the form told me the background colour was too similar to the rest of the photo. I submitted it anyway and had no issues

Everything super clear

Documents received 3:47pm on 8 June 2026 Overall much quicker than i expected. From documents received, it took 7 days for my application to be approved, printed later that day and was sent out to me with next day delivery.

Simple adult renewal. Only document sent was recently expired passport. Received new passport & old passport back on the same day. Very frustrating to not be asked for all of the documents in the first place. Have to second a second round of documents explaining a name change and reason for applying for the passport out side of the UK are all self explanatory.

Easy and no issues experienced

My first error was sending the wrong passport and then sending the correct one. Being without any passport was indeed scary as HMPO would not send the other one back. Then it was wondering when the UK would come back to me, no time frame was given but best thing is I got the UK yesterday and my Bermuda I picked up today!! Both in time for travel on Monday!!
