Found it very fast, didn’t use fast track service & it arrived a week after I applied online. Old passport arrived same day as new one (paid the extra £5 to have it sent back special delivery)

(Dropped off old passport at Post Office using Tracked24 on Friday 25th July, it got put under ‘item retention’ from Saturday 26th until Monday 28th as the passport office don’t accept deliveries on weekends – worth knowing when sending as it’s not written anywhere officially!!)

I was due to go on holiday 2 weeks and 7 days after I renewed my passport not because it was out of date but it was damaged and I didn’t realise. I was so stressed the whole time but it came in 2 weeks and 2 days.

Annoyingly, my dog at my husbands passport on Saturday and we went into panic mode! We booked online as Durham passport office wouldn’t see us. We had to make the 8 hour journey there and back to Glasgow from Wakefield on Monday. During our appointment they approved our passport there and then. It was dispatched and posted Tuesday and here with us today (Wednesday). We fly on Friday!

I managed to drop off my old passport at the DHL office one hour after my online application was submitted, so it arrived in Hemel Hempstead the next day. Given that we are in peak holiday season, I was pleasantly surprised at the speed and ease of the whole process.
