I’m in the same boat as you!! I applied on the 2nd April, sent my old passport off on the 5th April, had my old passport marked as received on the 15th April. I fly may 21st! I check it about 15 times a day to see if there’s been an update

Hi just saw this as I was about to unsubscribe if it helps I spent 3 weeks in application processing from 17th March to 5th April. Got printed on 11th and passport was delivered on Thursday all in all from application on 9th March 5 weeks 1 day so you should be fine.

Thank you this is promising nice to hear a positive outcome! Enjoy your holiday and keep your fingers crossed for me 😬

If it states processing on tracker it’s likely to take longer. It’s switched to manual from digital. Means a human needs to verify something. So goes slow. I applied 2/3/22 and still waiting at processing stage

I made my application on 26th of March, went into processing on the 1st of April still waiting for it to be approved!

From what I've seen most are between 2 and 5 weeks processing but seen a few under and over, no idea if it's due to delays or what checks have to be done. Mines currently been 19 days processing at the Liverpool office, first passport so possibly more checks being done. 5 weeks would leave me 10 days before travel, any longer and I'm probably gonna miss it despite booking over 10 weeks after application.

Has anyone been eligible to try and use the new fast track upgrade? If so what does it entail? The stress of all this has left me feeling ill, never known anything like it

Lapp, I’m in the process. It’s not much better to be honest. I’m so on edge. You have to apply 14 days before travel. Call them on threat day. They’ll tell you which office your application is at, as they move about. My daughters travel is booked this Sunday. I was promised a call by last Thursday and still nothing. If People are successful they’re getting passports a day or two before travel. It’s agony.

Does anyone have the contact details for the upgrade? How do I contact them?
fingerscrossed2022
@LAPP as ritabix said unfortunatly you have to be within 2 weeks of travel to apply for the upgrade and even then its beyond stressful. They are supposed to contact you after 48rs after you applied but we have been waiting a week

Does anyone know how long it takes to enter the processing stage. My daughters first passport application has been stuck on documents received since 4th April

I’m in exactly the same position. My sons first passport has been waiting at documents recieved since April 5th. I submitted the application on March 17th. It’s just so unacceptable to be honest. The stress of it all is consuming me! We travel on June 1st so it gave us 11 weeks leeway from when I applied. Urgh.

Thank you for your email about your passport application. Our standard passport application is a non guaranteed service, however our estimated 10 week timescale is from when all supporting documents are scanned onto your application. No guarantee even after 10 weeks of documents received im afraid, 3 children’s first passports applied for. 1 received, 1 being printed & last still on docs received although all applications sent on same day & the one we are waiting for was the first to have their documents received
meera0108
How long has it been since you applied for the passports? So really it’s actually 14/15 weeks for your passport to be ready then if it’s 10 weeks from when documents are scanned in. Utterly ridiculous! Some of us applied before the 10 weeks wait was mentioned so it just seems very unfair to be honest.

I applied on 6th March, my application has been stuck on processing since 17th March. My daughters applied for on same day…been stuck on documents received since 28th March, I just called the Newport office (someone actually answered the phone), I asked about both applications, basically mine they can do nothing about, my daughters should have been scanned in & gone to approved or further action within 11 days so I am waiting for a call back to see what the delay is. We don’t fly until June 12th but I have little confidence in the system at the moment from reading other posts. If I’d not rang up then my daughters could have been on docs received for god knows how long. I’ll report back what they say
meera0108
I agree I have very little faith in the system after reading all the posts too so panicking a bit to be honest. I’ve only been on documents recieved since 5th April and then we had the bank Holiday in the middle to.
max1978
When do you fly? It’s ridiculous really as you apply well ahead of the 10 weeks & still looks unlikely, my sons was back within 5 weeks & my eldest daughters is waiting to be picked up by TNT. The processing stage is probably the worst stage your application can enter by the looks of it
max1978
& of course being stuck on documents received 🙄

So crazily I’ve literally just had a text this very minute to say our application has been Approved and they will let me know when it will be dispatched. I had to send my application to the Liverpool office though. I really hope yours sorts out soon. This is a big weight of my mind tbh as we fly on June 1st which is only 6 weeks away now.
max1978
Ah that’s brilliant news. Me too but I suppose o still have upgrade as an option if they don’t get their finger out. Have a lovely holiday
meera0108
Thankyou! Good luck. I hope you don’t get to that stage though as you have been very organised so early on.

I just spoke to customer services. They informed me that 10 week countdown starts from the time they have received the documents and not from when the application was submitted. They also said childrens first passports usually have a turnaround of 6 weeks. I don’t believe that to be true but I do hope so as I fly on 10th June.

Long time lurker, first time posting, and I think I have to admit defeat now... Found out about the new EU rule on passport validity and as I am due to travel for work a lot in the coming months, so applied in what I thought was plenty of time with 5 weeks typical processing. I am supposed to be travelling every couple of weeks starting this Friday, so while it wouldn't have expired until October I thought it was better to apply now. Submitted application 2 March, passport arrived two days later but took the then-usual 10 days to be linked to my application. Was asked to send written statement to Peterborough about passport damage on 17 March, sent tracked next day and arrived 8am on 18th March. By 6 April, the progress team admitted the statement was likely lost in their post room as it had been three weeks and not linked to my application. Was advised to send a second written statement while various alerts were placed on my application to try and get someone to go and look for the first. No idea which statement (if any) was found but I moved into dreaded manual processing on 11 April. No updates on the tracker since. Spoke to two people during the 14-day window to apply for the fast track upgrade but it wasn't until last Thursday 14th April and third person told me about it and how to apply. However I've heard absolutely nothing and I'm due to fly 7am on Friday (22nd)... what are the chances of approval, printing and delivery in the next 48 hours? Hoping for an unlikely miracle. Everyone I spoke to in numerous phone calls kept advising me there was still enough time, to keep being patient etc. I am starting to feel like I was fobbed off. Application being processed 3:50pm on 11 April 2022 Documents received 12:13pm on 14 March 2022 Application received 1:18pm on 2 March 2022 Application submitted 1:18pm on 2 March 2022

We moved into the processing stage last week on 14 April the day after documents were scanned in as "received". Considering they had been signed for a month previously we were relieved (first passport application from overseas, including foreign passport which would have been expensive to replace if they'd lost it!) It looks like there is a lot of variation - some people move to approved after a few days, while some take longer. In our case there is a document which will need to be used for both applications and I'm not sure whether that will delay things or make no difference.
