Is there any point at which someone at HMPO might look at an application and say, "gee that's been a while, maybe we should try and get it sorted"? Fifteen weeks since application submitted, 6 weeks in processing and when husband phoned to check that the letter they'd asked for had arrived they said "yes but nobody will action it for 2 or 3 weeks".

OMG... your stress levels must be hitting the roof, you may have to attend your nearest office and wait until someone is prepared to listen to your situation, totally unacceptable, wish you all the best.

Thanks but problem is we are in Australia. It's incredibly frustrating as it just shouldn't take this long. When our daughter got hers it was processed, issued and in her hands 2 weeks to the day.

That sounds so frustrating. We are at 13 weeks, having never passed the documents received stage because they've lost our son's birth certificate and the certified translation. Of course they just keep telling us that we haven't sent these documents, despite the fact they were signed for and linked to the application weeks ago, they haven't acknowledged the loss. We live in New Caledonia, so it is expensive and takes ages to send things. And if they are going to lose it again... Utterly hopeless. We are trapped here.

What a nightmare for you! Is there no avenue of appeal? especially as you say they've been scanned and linked?
