We applied for x2 childrens passports and we are awaiting contact from the upgrade team as we fly 2 weeks today. We are worried as my partner has full parental responsibility of the kids but on the application it asked for the mums details, they have said what we have provided so far was sufficient which was birth certificates but I worry that at last minute they will require more from us. They don’t have any contact with the mother so I’m hoping that they won’t ask for anything from her, the government website wasn’t that useful as it said the provide a court order but there isn’t one in place. I don’t think there should be any issues if my partner has parental responsibility of both children and is named on both birth certificates surely!! I hope to hear something soon!!
@Rub_03hen
When i was asked to send in my supporting docs (Birth certificate),the address these were sent to was Bootle.
@KHB
From what i have read, you have probably got the docs recieved message twice as they have transferred the application to a different office. (I could of course be incorrect!)
Current situation for my daughters first passport:
Documents received 5:08pm on 26 April 2022
Application received 9:30pm on 12 April 2022
Identity details received 9:29pm on 12 April 2022
Email sent to person confirming your identity 9:18pm on 12 April 2022
Ask someone to confirm your identity 9:12pm on 12 April 2022
Application submitted 9:12pm on 12 April 2022
We are due to fly 19th June so im hoping we should be ok...
That's what I guessed. Hope the office change is for the better. Thanks
I am also waiting for a child's first passport.
Applied on 2nd April, documents received 19th April but nothing since.
I am hoping they aren't going to ask for our marriage certificate. Is this the case for every application?
Is there a particular reason they ask for it? Even if the parents passport details are given and are in the married name?
On our application, we used my wifes maiden name as she has not changed her passport to her married name as it still had so long to run. So passport in maiden name but childs birth certificate with her married name on....but the birth certificate also shows her married name which linked it all up. Marriage certificate not requested.
Thanks
Slightly different from me but hopefully same outcome that they don't need our marriage cert.
We applied at the same time, our documents were received on the 22nd and we are still at that stage, we fly on 21st June and I am panicking with all these stories. Which passport office did you send your documents to ?
We applied 12 April
Docs received 25 April
Called today and nothing is on they system yet so we can't upgrade
We travel 24 May
Stressed is an understatement
I had to send docs to bootle.
I am due to fly on 6th June so have a bit of time but starting to worry.
@CharlieMKing What passport office is this that you sent it to?
Im not entirely sure, my wife put the application together.
Although my local passport office is London.
Update. Got a text to say passport approved
Timeline below
Application approved 12:43pm on 6 May 2022
Documents received 12:20pm on 19 April 2022
Application received 1:08pm on 4 April 2022
Identity details received 1:08pm on 4 April 2022

Ask someone to confirm your identity 1:56pm on 2 April 2022
Application submitted 1:56pm on 2 April 2022
Not gloating just to hopefully give some hope to others that it is being dealt with albeit slowly.
Still to get printed and sent to me so not out of the woods yet but there’s hope.
@shgs8 Where did you send your documents to? I'm still waiting on documents being "received"
Hi mine were sent to bootle.
It took over 2 weeks for the system to update from date they were sent to being marked as received.
Ah damn! I wish I was able to have sent them to bootle. It seems that's the only office that have a decent turnaround time.

I’m now starting to panic. Thought worst was over when I got the text to say application approved.
I fly around same time as you so I hope mine is printed and sent soon.
Anybody know average time between being approved and sent out?
Sorry just noticed yours doesn’t say approved but processed. Wonder if there’s a difference in terminology.
This is my time line below. I’m really freaking out as we are due to fly in 4 weeks 😫 I called Liverpool office yesterday who confirmed it’s still with the examiners.

Starting to lose hope 😣
Has anyone got any recent experiences/updates?
I applied for x2 first child’s passports on 18th March and both still showing as processing on the website. I fly on 24th May and I’m sick with stress. If I don’t cancel my holiday with Thomas Cook tomorrow I will lose the full amount of it if I can’t go (over £2k). There are people on this forum who applied after me and have got theirs back already and I just don’t understand why. I have called about upgrading but was told to call back on 10th to apply. Was also told it’s not guaranteed to be sorted on time even with an upgrade. I just don’t know what to do for the best.
Any advice?? xx
@shgs8
My own renewal was approved on 1st April and received by me on 12th April if that’s any help xx
We submitted my sons first passport application on the 8th April.
Documents signed for at Bootle on the 13th April but they still haven’t been acknowledged. Multiple calls and promises for call backs haven’t materialised and now being told the 10 weeks starts from when they upload the documents rather than when they’re received so the count down hasn’t even begun.
I’m not sure how to progress other than relying on a ‘potential’ fast track closer to out holiday.
Hi
My experience has been documented above and received another update today that my child’s passport is being printed. So I guess I am one of the lucky ones. But until it’s in my hand I’ll not be convinced.
I applied on 2nd April. Documents received 19th April and no update until Friday last.
It seems once it’s approved it moves quickly. From reading others experiences if approved you often get another message two days later about it being printed.
I applied online both parents have a passport and both passports in married name. If that makes any difference.
Hello all,
has anyone else been "processing" since Mid April??
currently lost all hope getting my childrens passports back in time for their first holiday
