How long will it take ?

Hello there After few weeks reading your forum I have decided to join your community and ask the same question as many before First adult British passport after naturalisation Submitted 10.03 Documents received 25.03 Application being processed 20.04 Today is 25th of May Also I have not received my backing documents back What should I do…? Shall start worrying or count 10 weeks from the 20th of April…? When these 10 weeks actually start from ? Bootle Office *I am not desperate for this to arrive like ASAP because I’m not going on any holiday but worries me that it takes sooo long and my foreign passport, naturalisation certificate are not back yet … Any advice would be helpful and much appreciated Thank you

Bootle seems to be one of the slowest offices to process applications at the moment. I completed a child renewal and this is the current timeline at Glasgow. Passport printed - 3:29am on 30 May 2022 Application approved - 3:59pm on 26 May 2022 Documents received - 2:12pm on 21 May 2022 Application received - 12:37pm on 17 May 2022 Identity details received - 12:36pm on 17 May 2022 Email sent to person confirming your identity - 8:26pm on 13 May 2022 Ask someone to confirm your identity - 8:24pm on 13 May 2022 Application submitted - 8:24pm on 13 May 2022 It might be taking longer as it is a first passport after naturalisation so there may be more checks they have to carry out. Your foreign passport and certificate should be sent back seperately when your new passport has been printed and sent out. I think the 10 weeks begin from the application start date. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Supposedly they only count the 10 weeks from when they start processing now (probably because it makes the processing times look better). If I were you I would call them to see if there is an issue - you will probably find there is, since there has to be something that has caused it to go into manual processing route. Even though you say you don't need it urgently, it is still cause for concern when it takes so long. Good luck!
