Long projected passport receipt date

I sent a passport renewal - with change of name, on Wednesday 23rd Feb in paper form due to needing marriage certificate original for name change. This was done using the post office check and send service. I was told I could expect about a 4 week turn around but have received a text from the passport office to advise that I should have my passport by 12/05/2022. Being 11 weeks after sending the initial application. Should I expect the passport to take this long to arrive or is it likely to arrive sooner? If I'd have known it could take 3 months I would have done the fast track or face to face visit so I am quite shocked! Had hoped to go abroad mid April which won't be a possibility if it takes this long. Thanks in advance for any advice!
