No documents asked to be sent

We reported a lost passport and did a replacement. Identity has been confirmed on 5 July. Called office yesterday was told that it was in printing. Thinking all is good we booked our flights. Had a bad feeling since reading the inconsistency on here and rang today. Was told sorry it's still with the examiner in Liverpool. 5 weeks? However we have not been asked to send any documents. We travel in 3 weeks. Has anyone else not had to send documents? Or are we just out of luck? Our 6 weeks will be up next week.
