I wonder if anyone could shed some light on this for me. I submitted my passport on the 18th April and received documents on the 21st April. Since the 4th May my status has been "in progress", i have been checking at least 2 times a day for a least a month now & this afternoon the status has gone back to "old passport received" 21st April. Has anyone else experienced this or know why this may have happened? I did send an enquiry to HMPO this morning so I don't know if this has something to do with it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

What do they mean a reset?! Looks like everyone is getting different information here, how about some consistency Hmpo!!

Also, will be very interested to know if anyones actually goes to ‘approved’ after this back step?

My passport was in processing at Liverpool since 19th May & rolled back yesterday. Just been approved this afternoon. Fingers crossed this happens to more of you!

think the tracker going backwards is just a system glitch, just been on the phone and apparently it still says processing on their end and they've been getting a lot of the same calls about the tracker

I am in the same situation, Child renewal Application started on 11th April at my local post office, updated to Documents received on 28th April, updated to In Processing on 29th April. Now the 29th April in processing status has been removed. At the same time on the 11th April I also submitted an application for a passport renewal for my other child who had just turned 16. So his was done as a first Adult passport, that whole process was really fast and I had his new passport in my hand on 29th April. I guess they will say that my average wait time is very good, but I would rather be able to go on holiday with both of my children, rather than just one of them !

I think StephieC is right; I just got a reply to the email I sent (on the 25th May... so 22 days just to get an email reply) and they said that my current status is "Awaiting Processing", but the tracker I can see has reset back to "Identity Documents Received". It's almost like everyone has lost the most recent change made...

Same boat here, applied for a lost renewal and a first adult passport for my brother the same day I applied, Our flights are due on the 5th July, is there any point paying to upgrade when it seems to pointless and people are still forced to turn up to the centre where the application is being processed 48prior to flights Second question how am I to find out what centre is handling my applications? Good luck to everyone it’s a lot of stress Lol

We was being processed from 12th April but back to identity details received, if we miss out our holiday we both stand to lose 4k

@waiiiiiiiitingggg Did you go to the office your application was sent to, or just to your closest office? My husbands application was sent to Durham but that’s a 5.5 hour journey from here so wondering if it’s worth going to a more local office. Our flight is on Sunday.

@ginge I went to the closest one. I sent my supporting documents to Liverpool. But when you do online application, the application goes anywhere in the UK ,as I heard today. So yes first thing in the morning,go to the nearest passport office. Show them the ticket, and you will get it at the same day hopefully. At least give it a try, a saw people which didn’t get it but some yes. To be honest with you it’s more luck, than paperwork. Good luck mate

Not only has there not been any progress, we've actually gone backwards...

Same. My daughter's (which went to Belfast) has been 'in processing' since 10th May and now back to 'old passport received'. Mine went to Cardiff I think and was all sorted within 2 weeks. We are supposed to be travelling on 2nd July.

Any updates from anyone?

If it's a "bug", it's taking a ridiculous amount of time to resolve. Still "documents received" and not "processing", even though it'd been processing previously (apparently) for 9 weeks...

I personally, don’t think it’s a bug at all. I spoke to a lovely lady on the chat feature last weekend who advised that they have changed the way they track applications due to the back log and that it can take 5-10 weeks from the point of documents received date to be processed. Not despatched, approved etc just processed. (Mine was previously in processing) and she also advised it hasn’t even been looked at by an examiner, so if you were previously in processing, I would assume your application currently hasn’t even been looked at. I am past the five week mark now (since documents have been received) and was told that there was nothing I could do to speed up the process as it’s a first passport, I asked if my travel date (just before summer holidays) was likely and she pretty much told me not a chance in hell. When it gets to 10 weeks since documents approved I can get back in touch to speed up the process but until then. f***ed, basically.

So what options do we have? I'm travelling 3 weeks today so from your comment concerned I'm wasting time just waiting for the inevitable as hasn't progressed since the 'glitch'

I have come to the conclusion that I am not going to be able to travel. I am due to travel in 2.5 weeks time. I plan on calling when it’s been six weeks since documents received, which is July 5th I believe (as someone on here said they were helped after six weeks). The lady I spoke with took note of my travel date but said she couldn’t do anything more then she had as it’s not been long enough and it’s a first application. She also said an interview will be required and I know they are not readily available. I asked her what my chances of being able to travel were and in her words 'very unlikely'. Here’s my current stats just incase they are helpful. Documents received 2:41pm on 24 May 2022 Application received 9:54am on 2 May 2022 Identity details received 9:54am on 2 May 2022 Email sent to person confirming your identity 10:11am on 1 May 2022 Ask someone to confirm your identity 10:08am on 1 May 2022 Application submitted 10:08am on 1 May 2022
