The delay was with royal mail, sent on recorded next day delivery, took them 4 days to deliver it, once documents were marked as received by Passport office it took the 5 days to approve and was sent for printing the next day and received by me via TNT on the next day

I did the child renewal online and took the photo myself. There is a gauge which tells you if your photo is likely to pass. I had a slight shadow at the back but it still came up as good so it doesn’t need to be perfect. The trick to a quick process is to send your old passport back ASAP. I used royal mail special so I knew when it had arrived within a day. Include sms and email updates for your passport very reassuring. Once they received the old passport it was checked, printed and delivered within days.

It has been 13 weeks since they received my documents for the first uk passport application for my daughter. HMPO say that they have not completed the review of the documents as yet. I dont understand as the applications submitted in UK are completed quickly from reading the comments here. The HMPO email response whilst fast is of no use at all as they can only confirm what i already know. Total frustration!
