I have just had a phonecall back directly from Liverpool with regards to an urgent and compassionate travel application put in after i had sent off the papercopy. They took some time to acknowledge receipt of the evidence i sent, and this was put through as a standard application and approved on Tuesday 29th. The passport was sent to central printing and the examiner advised there is a large backlog of passports due to problems at the central centre itself on top of problems with the volume of passports which is causing long delays. She has pulled my passport out of the system and put it in to local print in Liverpool, which she hopes will be printed today or tomorrow.
