First Adult Passport Wait time without chasing?

Good Afternoon,
I am currently waiting on first adult passport received receipt of application text on 9th October application sent 2nd October. Chased today and have been told they are no longer conducting interviews and application on hold until they resume. Is this true?
I have seen threads where people have chased but had to provide proof of flight details 14 days before.

We were hoping to go away on December 12th wife and children received there’s no problem.

I don’t want to book something and risk loosing all my money however we have never been abroad and are really wanting to get away.

Has anyone received there passport and had an interview without having to chase?

I would really appreciate any advice.
