The standard online service seems to go through quite quickly once they acknowledge receipt of documents. It’s when it has to be “processed” manually by a person that seems to be holding people up. Mine has been sat on processing for a long time now.
My granddaughter applied using the paper form, on 15th April. She missed her holiday on 22nd May and she still doesn’t have her passport. I think there are longer delays if it is a paper application as my other granddaughter did the digital check and send through post office and it took 3 weeks to get her passport.

The Passport Office is a joke! I applied online for sons first passport mid March….I am STILL waiting over 12weeks now! Despite my case having been escalated I’m always given empty promises and advise that a will get a call back or I should call in 48hrs! A week has since passed and no one has responded or dealt with this case! Even the complaints procedure is an utter farce!!! I complained back in April and STILL waiting for a response!! Bottom line is they signed for my documents but incompetent staff have failed to upload to the system. Absolute disgrace!!!!!
Sons first adult postal application received 6 april and not a word from HMpo but yet people have applied online 2 weeks ago and already have theirs…just not getting this at all…just makes me think my sons is lying bottom of a pile or lost
Lost passport & had to cancel in order to apply for renewal early April. Said 10 weeks processing on line so thought would be ok. Still being processed & got holiday booked soon. Really worried now & frustratingly have now found old passport which they say can’t be uncancelled. Unable to fast track too. Pretty rubbish.
