I am so pleased my little one’s first passport arrived within a short time frame as I was anticipating drama before our holiday mid-september.
I applied online on the 12th of July and they acknowledged the document I had sent on the 18th. There was nothing else updated for a while and then on the 8th of August, I had a text to say it was approved and ready to dispatch. I then received it very early morning on the 10th of August.

I applied on 6 April documents on 14th April and almost 18 weeks post documents received no passport and likely a lost holiday. I requested upgrade since it hit 10 weeks and was told it got to an examiner on 1st July I later realised this would be the 6th or more automatic responses and false hope. My valid passport is in Durham I requested its return but can’t get response. Im meant to fly 26th August I work for the NHS I was already off with stress and this nearly broke me completely I fled domestic abuse and this year I suffered to deaths in my family. I explained this I asked politely a number of times only same response but nothing.

Abysmal and stressful experience. Wife’s and son’s passport renewals took 11 days (Glasgow) but daughter’s renewal (Belfast) took 12.5wks. It was finally ready 2 days before we flew to Spain and I had to drive (7hr round trip) to pick it up in person. Countless phone calls and emails, having to repeat myself to different people, being kept on hold and being cut off. Incredibly stressful. I strongly suspect the only reason we finally got the passport was because I asked my MP to intervene which they did.
