Passport was very easy to apply for. Considering it was my first adult passport, I thought it might take a little longer than expected, however, my passport was recorded as received only 2 days after sending it away, and within another 2 days, my application was approved and a day later, the new one was on its way. All in all, a very speedy service! Nowhere near the 10 weeks quoted on the UK government website.

Before you start an adult online renewal, get a digital passport photo taken. I didn’t know this in advance and had a printed one ready, but it was much easier to use a digital one. You can get one done at any passport photo booth,

Since my last renewal, the Post Office has introduced the ‘Digital Check and Send’ service. I can’t believe just how easy this programme made the process. The staff in branch were knowledgeable and friendly, I didn’t have the hassle of needing photos and it was just so quick. I honestly can’t recommend this enough.

Mixed messages about my passport being printed and arriving on the same day.
Took a week to confirm they had recieved it, even though I knew it had been delivered as it was signed for with Royal Mail.
Quick turnaround so cant really complain, I dont see why you have to wait until the old one is returned either, if its lost no delay ?

I think it took longer because I applied for the passport at 11 pm on a Friday night and then missed the post office collection time on Saturday.
My old passport got to them on Wednesday 11th Jan even though I posted it on Saturday, next day tracked delivery

I think the passport office is doing a marvellous job in processing the applications and issuing the passports in a short period of time. I applied on19th Dec, my documents were received by the passport office on 3rd Jan (due to Royal Mail strikes and holidays), and my passport was printed on 5th Jan. But I received my passport on 17th Jan by an old lady! DHL had delivered my passport to a wrong address, without checking any form of ID, without scanning any tracking number, so the passport office could not even locate my passport. The delivery is in a mess, unfortunately. I wonder how a delivery courier can pick up passports without scanning and sending any tracking number, my ID could be stolen. I was lucky that an old lady delivered my passport before it was reported lost by the passport office.
