I was worried that the postal strike would have an impact but it didn’t seem to delay things too much. I used Royal Mail to send my old passport. The new passport was delivered by a courier, TNT.

Exactly 2 weeks from submission to receiving the new passport. I took my own photo as a selfie against a plain white wall at home, and it passed first time. Chose someone who I knew would be able to verify my identity by email as soon as they were contacted by the Passport Office (and pre-warned them so they were expecting it).
