My referee took some time (a week ) to confirm my identity, and Royl mail delayed the delivery of required documents to passport office. I think it would have been even faster, if those processes from my side were quicker. Overall it was an easy and fast experience.

Posted old passport on 28/11/2022 via Royal Mail Special Delivery 1PM but they lost the package ! Logged the passport as “Lost” on 06/12/2022 and had to ring the Passport helpline to update the application with the lost reference number. This then became as Lost passport application

Applied online with a photo I took myself on an iPhone, the photo was pre-approved by the Gov website, sent the old passport by registered next day delivery and was lucky the whole process was dealt with amazingly quickly, just under 3 weeks from start to finish. The passport was processed at the Peterborough Office.
