Been waiting over 3 month. Had to send another application with utility bill. Received a call a week ago by woman saying ” sorry for delay I’ve been on holiday’ ….lol honestly I’m not making this up. She phoned my countersignature then phoned me back saying she is sending it to get printed. I phoned up again only to be told it’s. It been sent for printing. This is a joke.

43 weeks waiting for a passport. The story is that my granddaughter’s Lebanese birth certificate has a typo (month is recorded as 12, not 11). Hospital birth certificate is correct. Lebanon is not functioning. Court case is required to resolve it. Courts on strike. Passport Office wanted alternative evidence of date of birth, and affadavit from recognised lawyer (all has been supplied). No communication, no response to the complaints process (except stage 1: “be patient”). MP is currently (?) taking complaint through to stage 3 (?) but I am not confident that she is not on the side of “let’s do anything to reduce net migration figures”, and do not have confidence in her. Older granddaughter, and daughter also stuck in Lebanon as a result (no family visits; school place here foregone etc). There is just nowhere to turn. There is no response…. it’s like nobody is there.

The online application itself is quite easy but we had to wait 5 months until my son’s passport got processed. This came after raising the issue by phone and email to the escalation service, log an online complaint and ultimately contact my local MP who kindly and decisively intervened. It really felt like overseas applications are being treated as low priority. Overall things accelerated at the end but there was radio silence in the middle for several months. That said the documents were not lost it was just very very very slow processing.
