Couldn’t have been easier if they tried. Online application very straightforward to complete. Application progress updates super quick and accurate. As I am an EU citizen and this was my first British passport application, I also had it post out my EU passport and naturalisation certificate which was received and updated on the tracker promptly. Some have to wait for these documents to be returned for a good while, for me it was just over a week after the receipt of the British passport so again pretty fast. Overall great experience!

The actual process was fairly straight forward. It was a bit of pain and expense (£9) to get digital photos. I did also opted to have signed delivery of old passport for an additional £5. Then the cost of sending your old passport which, was a further £8.50. Although, this was tracked and signed receipt. The made the whole cost £95. Just something to consider.
The biggest issue was getting the passport. I had a text advising my passport was being printed and a courier would be in touch in the the next couple of days. The next day after 8am, I get a text from TNT to say my passport was being delivered that day. However, as you need to sign for it, nobody was at home when the courier arrived (missed by 10 mins). You could rearrange the delivery date, but the delivery window was 8am – 8pm, and you cannot change the delivery address without going back to the passport office. This meant the next date I could arrange, was the same the following week. Definitely something to consider and skewers the waiting time.

Super quick although we had to resubmit the photo online as the first one wasn’t approved. We resubmitted the same day we got the text and the approve the resubmitted photo just a few moments later. A day after we got confirm the passport application was approved and sent to printing and then the following day we got the passport!
