I applied for an emergency passport as I needed to travel early September and the waiting time at the time of application submission was around 6 weeks. However, it arrived in only 3 weeks, so the emergency passport was not necessary.

Online application 15th Oct, they received my old passport 20th Oct, I received the new one 1st Nov. Text messages to update me at every stage. New passport was sent via TNT and not Royal Mail. I haven’t received my old one yet – I expect it to come via Royal Mail so it may be a while! (or not).
