Service is broken, get the impression they are working from home with a call centre in India that doesn’t have a clue and can see what we do. I fly on Monday so this last three weeks has been super stressful. Clear from my experience they don’t read the applications. Full system needs an overhaul

Used Post Office digital check and send to avoid hassles. Pretty quick service for me at 17 days but my current passport was still valid & I’ve never allowed mine to lapse which may hasten the process. TNT courier sent text & email tracking number on day of delivery which was a bit late. Partner sent off for a first passport using online service on the 19.3.22 & he is still waiting as they mislaid his documents.

HMPO timescales when applying was 5 weeks & passport was received exactly 5 weeks from submission. Very stressful as we fly very soon but that was my mistake for not allowing the full 10 weeks, I would leave longer next time to relieve the anxiety! Can’t complain though, the majority of people I spoke to at both HMPO & TNT were polite & helpful.

I applied for son’s passport renewal but my surname is different to his. They requested additional birth certificate which took 1 week for me to send a copy. It then took 2 weeks for the passport office to register receipt of the documents therefore delaying the process by 3 weeks.
I was worried about TNT after the horrific stories I had heard and article in the guardian etc about fraudulent activities and fake attempts at delivery. My experience with them was very good! Passport was printed on Tuesday and it had been delivered without requiring a signature (I live in apartment where concierge were able to sign on my behalf).
I would advise anyone applying for passport with different surname to child to send birth certificate regardless of their request for it if you are in a hurry.

DHL confirmed old pp/ documents delivered and signed for on 28th Feb. Still not received, yet has email last week that it’s at printing stage… applying from abroad.
I am still waiting on my adult renewal. Application put in online early February and it’s still processing. I have spent a fortune on phone calls and get cut off after a 15/20 min wait. People I speak to can’t be bothered to look up system and lie that they can’t access when I know they can. Fobbed off continually. This is the most stressful experience and one which will ultimately cost A LOT of money when we so desperately need a holiday. The discrepancies between time differences in receiving passports is astounding – luck of the draw where your online application ends up. Peterborough office is beyond awful. An unfair system.
