Was pleasantly surprised. Posted the old passport on Monday, (Next Day Signed For), replacement arrived on Friday Morning. Used the digital passport photo option at a photo booth. Bootle passport Office, straight forward renewal.

10 weeks passed and Belfast hadn’t done anything queued at Liverpool for 9 hours to see someone. Got passport the next day. Another trip to Liverpool. So many horror stories heard from others.

I submitted the application online and went to a shop that took passport photos and gave us a number which linked to that photo which I added in to the online application. I did this because we had 6 weeks before travel and my baby had been born a week after her due date so time was getting tight. I wanted to make sure that there were no hold ups with the photo. I thought that when the supporting documents arrived was important, but it seems not to be. The passport office ask for the date of submission of the application when you speak to them and never reference the date documents are received. If I had known this I would have tried to submit the application even earlier (I didn’t because I couldn’t register the birth of my daughter until she was 8 days old) this might be helpful for others in a similar situation.
Thankfully we received the passport in 5 weeks.

Waited quite a while for anything to change and then had to submit the identity confirmation again so used someone different but once it was done the second time everything happened really quickly and we received it a few days later.

Very fast and smooth. Longest wait was for the passport to arrive overseas.
Very satisfied – however I am still waiting for child’s first passport which was sent off a few days earlier and I am still holding at documents received.
