On May 20th, after booking a holiday from 21st June we realized my wife’s passport did not have the 3 extra months now required by the EU. After a weekend discovering that fast track appointments were essentially unavailable we decided to simply make a standard application on the basis that according to this site the chance of success was reasonably high. We made an online application very early on the morning of 23 May, with photo taken professionally and a code provided. We then sent the old passport to Liverpool passport office using special delivery, i.e. guaranteed by 1pm next day. It was a very close run thing, but the passport has arrived this morning. Receipt of documents was very quick, but then a long gap to approval. On 12th June we gave feedback and on 13th used the webchat. In both we were polite, and didn’t ask for special treatment, just suggested information would be useful given our situation, i.e. we provided the date of flights. Whether this helped or not is unclear, but it didn’t seem to hurt. From approval to delivery was quick. We actually discovered that TNT would be delivering the passport on 20th by using their tracker and our application number about 7 hours before we received confirmation that the passport had been printed. Delivery was efficient, with a very friendly TNT delivery man.

Was getting worried after seeing comments and timeframes on here. Trip booked for 20 July and left it a bit late to renew daughter’s child-to-adult passport. Maybe we just got lucky as passport delivered within three weeks. For us I can’t fault the service and hope it’s a sign that things are getting better.

Very straightforward. Used the photo booth in the local post office and got a code I could put into the online form so I didn’t even have to upload a picture. Received regular progress updates from the passport office as my application went through the system. They even sent me a couple of reminders to post back my old passport, just so I wouldn’t forget. All well thought-out and a great example of online government services working smoothly.

Straight forward process from Glasgow office, also sent another 2 child renewal at the same time to bootle and hempel Hempstead office, bootle office have approved application and it is being printed, hempstead office have printed and waiting delivery. Have received delivery from Glasgow office however today 20th June. Just over 2 weeks in total

Two weeks before our travel date (and 10 weeks after we’d received confirmation that the documents had been received) we contacted the Durham upgrades team with the requested information to allow them to escalate the request. Despite frequent chasing to the general passport line and a number of callback requests, we heard nothing. 48 hours before travel, my husband went to our closest office in Liverpool at 7am and queued outside without an appointment and thankfully they were able to help. We were waiting there for nearly 12 hours in total due to difficulties in the Liverpool team being able to reach anyone in Durham but eventually we were assured that our passport would be printed and ready to collect after 10am the following day. We received a voicemail from someone in Durham at 9.30pm to confirm that the application had been approved. A very stressful experience but we’re really grateful to the team in Liverpool for their help.

Also first witness was not credible and photo was also rejected. Overall it was a very very easy experiance and much quicker than i could have ever imagined

The hardest part on the nerves was the long wait for the receipt of the documents to be acknowledged. Otherwise, I guess 1 month and 11 days was not terribly out of line. Passports used to come much quicker when they were done by the British Consulate in Düsseldorf.
