Just 16 days from application to receipt, despite straddling Easter weekend.
I allowed 10 weeks before travel date. Ensure you write your PEX number clearly and in bold on the envelope when posting documents. This will enable it to be scanned without intervention at HMPO.

My application sat in processing for over 5 weeks, it wasn’t until I made many calls I found out my documents had been sent to Liverpool but my application was being done in Glasgow. Lots of stressed calls later it was eventually approved but without me calling and practically begging for help as we were flying that week I’m not confident it would have been done in time. I wish they would just change the website to say 10 week turn around and not 5.

Very stressful but everyone on the helpline was polite and patient. Ended up upgrading to Fast Track with under 48 hours until flight, but just over 24 hours later my passport was approved, printed and collected from the London Passport Office.

Very straightforward. I was impressed to get my passport in 21 days, even with the long Easter weekend in the middle. It took 11 days for documents to be acknowledged, but after that it all progressed quickly (Corby office).

I was very anxious throughout the process because I took the risk and booked a holiday for 9 weeks time knowing I needed to renew 2 adult passports and apply for a first childs passport however it was a very quick process. The waiting time listed on the Gov website was 5 weeks when I first applied but due to several news articles being posted urging people to renew before the summer holidays it then went up to 10 weeks on the gov website which panicked me. But overall the process was actually very quick and efficient.
I applied online and provided a digital photo which I took myself. Mine also required a name change as I got married.

I got a text today advising that my husbands passport has been printed but I will post the full timeline of that one separately along with my daughters first child application which is currently at the ‘documents received’ stage.
So in total my passport took 19 days, I posted all required documents (old passport and marriage certificate) the same day I applied.
I am very pleased to have it and the stress lifted a little – won’t relax until all 3 are here – but I can only praise the passport offices as, for me, it has been a good efficient service that has kept me updated each step of the way.
Even though mine was processed quickly I was still glued to these updates and forums so I hope my timeline provides hope to anyone in a similar position!

When I submitted the application the website was saying an average 5 week turnaround – passport arrived after 4weeks and 6days so I can’t complain. Received TNT tracking text this morning and the passport was delivered by lunchtime. Huge relief with a holiday just over two weeks away!

Just stress all the way. Passport ready 2 days before departure, having to pay for fast track. They were supposed to contact us in 2 days after the request, but nothing for 2 weeks. Tried to talk to the line, but they have no idea what goes on in the office actually dealing with the request. No communication whatsoever. We cancelled bookings that were still able to be cancelled. We were about to start the process of delaying every booking, but they finally phoned and the passport is ready.

If you are working to any sort of timescale to travel book the one week service. The tracking system is terrible and very difficult to speak to anyone online or by phone, when you do they won’t give you any further information.

Took just over 3 weeks so am very happy. I’m one of life’s worriers so still found it stressful when it took 8 days to acknowledge receipt of old passport (although I knew it had been signed for and the site does state there may be a delay before it shows receipt) and then a little more stress when it was shown as printed on 16th but no contact from TNT until this morning (21st) and arrived at lunchtime through the letterbox.

There used to be overseas passport offices in Singapore (where I am based), HK and Australia. This time round, I have had to submit online and mail the old passport to Durham.
The actual form filling and photo submitting was simple and stress free, but the waiting was a little bit stressful. The main problem is, there is no update on whether they have received the old passport. I had mailed it using registered mail, even though the post office had indicated the passport was delivered, it took a long while before the HMPO tracking was updated. It also doesn’t help that HMPO texted me a reminder to mail in the old passport, even though it had been delivered.
Other than that, everything went smoothly. I especially liked the update emails they send out, specifically mentioning “Please don’t contact us about progress”.
