Comments:
Dread to think how long it would have taken to get my passport without involving my MP. I also had absolutely no updates online on my passport application until the day the passport was printed and sent out to me. The phone line for booking an interview doesn’t work and seemingly hasn’t worked in months; agents kept saying either that the system was broken and although there always has to be appointments available, they couldn’t give me one and to email InterviewHubTechnicalSupport@hmpo.gov.uk, or to call back later and more slots would be made available. Every day I called back 4-5 times a day, never an availability. Eventually someone did call me back from technical support and offered an interview appoint for July 4th, but after getting upset they admitted they had many availabilities the very next day (21st June). However, had I accepted the July 4th appointment, my passport would have taken 12 weeks to arrive.

Main source of stress was the time from them receiving my old passport to acknowledging its receipt
App 26/5
Old Passport received 30/5
Acknowledged 11/6
Printed 14/6
Received 15/6

All in all cant complain really. Peterborough office – triffic little service

Good luck to all with tight turnaround times – very stressful wait!

I would add that they didn’t register having received the documents until 27th April, so that may be the date in which you want to start the submission.

our holiday. Took ages but at least we didn’t have to expedite or upgrade in the end. Was expecting to queue just before the holiday. Glad it’s all over now.

Very stressful experience, little movement for 10 weeks and due to a technical glitch the status regressed from application processing to documents received. Thank you for all the advice here, my child’s passport arrived a week before travel. At the ten week stage I asked for an upgrade, eventually was successful, emailed my travel documents. By that stage I was desperate so also emailed my local MP, her office got back to me within an hour to confirm the upgrade which was helpful as the passport contact centre advisors were very inconsistent in their updates (though almost all were clearly trying to be helpful). Keep reading this forum for advice as things do change. Also super frustrating that they don’t process passports in order of application date, I complained via the website but received a generic, substandard response. Good luck everyone.

Had to send extra documents as I had married since but was bit clear what details to send (every name change doc except marriage certificate) rang up and got told ‘not everyone changes their name through married’ i understand that you haven’t asked to have the proof of how I changed me name… sent marriage certificate, 2 weeks to acknowledged of record of it then passport quickly printed and sent. Then additional 3 weeks for marriage certificate to be returned.

Applications made in march and april should be priority but instead new applications are coming through within 6 weeks.

Daughters wedding booked January 2022 approx 7 weeks ago couldn’t find my passport, lost in the house phoned passport office for advice told not to worry as best to cancel it as would be upgraded 2 weeks before we fly and then rules changed a week or so later and application needs to be in for 6 weeks before applying for upgrade.
15th May reported passport lost at home and applied online
    16th May Identify details received
And no movement since then status did change to application being processed for a couple of days on 10th June then back to the 16th May. Due to fly on Sunday and upgrade request made yesterday as at 6 weeks but heard nothing yet ! Over 40 hours on hold over the last couple of weeks and getting nowhere.
I’m devastated and so angry at myself for doing what they advised me to do !!!

Applied for adult renewal and change of name on 21st April via Post Office.

Documents were not confirmed received until 23rd May (tracking from Post Office confirmed they were received on 22nd April).

Tracking changed to Processing beginning of June but back to Documents Received within a week.

10 weeks this week and still no passport.

Sounds like I am in a similar situation to you. I sent my application on the 24th March, documents received in the 7th April and 14 weeks later I haven’t heard a thing and have missed my honeymoon. I am now starting to wonder if the name change is what is causing delays!?

Hope you aren’t waiting as long as me.
