I have not received it yet but it is printed and being delivered on Wednesday. 7 days before our holiday. I had to escalate the case to get it otherwise I think we would still be in processing stage.

Recommend getting an online code for the photo, as really sped the process up. Took nearly two weeks for the documents to be marked as received but then the application was approved the following day, printed the day after and arrived the day after that. I would have worried had I not read similar experiences on this forum with the delay around documents being received. Hope this helps!

Actually a lot faster than expected after reading the news. This is even with the Easter bank holiday, it took 24 days to process. The longest period of waiting was for them to receive or log receipt of my old passport. When we applied the wait was listed as 4 weeks, so we booked our trip for 7 weeks after but ended up needing to cancel. Wish they’d have just put ten weeks to begin with (although it now says that) could’ve stopped some heart ache and stress of hoping they turn up in time. Once approved they arrived four days later, and my documents turned up before my passports. When we could get through on the phone tho they were always kind and helpful as much as they could be.
We did send two passport applications in, if you’re doing this try to call and get them linked so they get done at the same time and sent back together.

Really impressed by the short turnaround. Application made on the 18th April, which was a bank holiday. Confirmed receipt of old passport on 22nd April and now a week later the passport is in my hands. 12 days from beginning to end. The only panic moment was having to do the identity confirmation at the beginning of the application and then requested again once the old passport was received. The application was approved on the same day as receiving the second id confirmation.

Contrary to recent newspaper reports, we were concerned for our first holiday on 3 years. Very efficient service, kept informed throughout the whole process. I’m guessing it might be very different if it was a new passport or you didn’t do it online. The online service was very easy to use.

Glasgow office. My daughter’s third passport and longest wait time. It took 10-14 days to receive her first and second passport 5 and 10 years ago. This time it took 26 days before they looked at application . Photo was rejected twice because of smiling so extra 5 days of delay. At the end we received her passport 4 weeks before travel. I am giving 3 Stars as we were not stressed as she is dual national and has another European passport to travel and come back . We were more stressed about husband’s passport as he is British only but lucky enough to receive it in 20 days (Durham office).

Old passport was held at customs for ten days, then when delivered to the passport office the post office status said they couldn’t deliver since no-one was in, but on inquiring directly with the post office, they said that it should have been delivered, but that they were not scanned on arrival so the status wouldn’t be updated correctly to delivered. Then the passport office took another 18 days to update their status to received. After that the process went quickly, but waiting 38 days for the old passport to arrive, and be marked as such was quite stressful, having sent the old passport immediately by registered post as recommended, there was nothing more I could have done to expedite the process.

42 days; this includes 10 days for old passport to get to the UK for some reason even though I sent by recorded post and only from Hungary. The postal tracking service still says ‘failed delivery’ at the sorting centre for April 1st! It took nearly 3 weeks from that to get into the system. After that , it was super quick. Four days delivery time from Durham to Budapest.
