Old passports signed for on Saturday 12/3/22 but nothing was done with them for 2 weeks or so when the system acknowledged receipt. Glad passports arrived well within the 10 weeks quoted.

It took nearly 6 weeks for my passport to arrive, when I rang the passport office no one was able to let me know where it was up to or if I would receive it in time for my holiday so just had to wait.
I got a text to say it had been printed on the Friday and although it says on TNT link it would be sent out the following Tuesday it must’ve been sent out the same day and arrived on the Monday.

Passport came within 19 days. But tracking was stressful. Also it’s not clear that they update when old passport is has been scanned in the office. Not when it has actually been delivered. Thereby causing unnecessary stress that old passports have gone missing in the post. Thankfully, I could track it on Royal Mail signed for.

Easy online renewal. Although, when uploading photo it said the rating was good but still got rejected. Make sure there are no shadows, plain clear background I used my bedroom wall.

Long wait time between submitting old passport and acknowledge receipt. 1 week between approval and receipt of passport. Allow at least 8 weeks for end to end process but recommend Premium
1 week fast track. If you submit your old Passport you can’t then cancel to premium so opt for this beforehand.

Application for child renewal submitted on 17th February. I had imagined our application would be straightforward but on the 7th March I received a request for my son’s birth certificate. I sent it out the same day with next day delivery and HMPO signed for it on the 8th March. I rang to chase receipt of birth certificate on the 21st and told to wait a bit longer. Rang again on the 24th March spoke to someone who seemed like they would help, taking note of our intended travel date (8th April). Application went to approved the next day. Never did get another official ‘documents received’ update for the birth certificate. Rang again 4th April to chase after not hearing anything after ‘printed’ update. HMPO said TNT should have it. Rang TNT, they said they didn’t have it. After regularly checking the TNT tracker online using the passport application reference number, the passport suddenly appeared on the tracker with no notification. I checked at 3pm on 4th April and was still getting an error, then 4.30pm there was with the delivery date of 6th April. I changed the delivery date to 5th April to be on the safe side and it was delivered as expected. HMPO application tracker still says ‘printed’ even after successful delivery.
I still don’t understand why a child renewal needed a birth certificate. Our details and circumstances have not changed. There was no clear explanation, and it further delayed our application. Every step of the process was very stressful. Not truly knowing when things would progress and what the true status of the application was. The HMPO application tracker didn’t really reflect what was happening in real time.

The wait is on, it’s busy at the moment! My sons renewal went to the Glasgow office.
Application submitted- 6 March 22
Old documents received – 23 March (but arrived at HMPO 13 March Royal Mail signed for).
Documents approved – 28 March
Passport printed – 3rd April (they work on Sunday)
Passport delivered – hopefully today 5th March – TNT website says it’s out for delivery. Go to the website and type in postcode and PEX no without the ‘PEX’ and no spaces for accurate tracking. Nothing showing on the app for me!
It’s been a tense wait for us, we had to push our holiday back a week! I had false confidence after my others were done within a week! The moral is to fast track or leave the 10 weeks.
