Very good experience. Due to 3 recent bank holidays, from submission to receipt, it took 12 working days. Submission to first tracking update took 8 days then received notification my old passport had been received. After this it flew through the process and was sent out very promptly. Excellent work!

Hassle-free service. Was kept up to date with each stage of the process by text. All in all it took 21 days from application (done after 11pm so a whole day lost) to delivery, including the Easter bank holiday weekend. I’m in Glasgow and was told to send my old passport to the Bootle office and the service was great. There is so much scaremongering in the Press about horrendous delays but it seems total exaggeration from my own experience and from other comments I’ve read. Just make sure you fill the form out correctly to avoid any issues. I’d also recommend using the pic booths that send your mugshot straight to the Passport Office (in larger Boots branches). Made the mistake of sending for my adult renewal and my child’s renewal with same mobile number. Do not do this as I received only one text message and thought one application was lost. Wasted hours phoning passport office to find out if both were received but kept getting cut off after 10 mins. My advice is put different mobile numbers on each application!!!

It came in good time and communication was good throughout. Just over the 5 weeks I was originally quoted, I would recommend paying the bit extra to have the photo taken at a photo shop so it is accepted instantly to save time.!

24hrs after applying online it was all over media that there was 10 week turnaround. Which gave us unnecessary panic for the 5 weeks we had to wait. Can’t fault Liverpool as they issued and delivered the passport in the turnaround stated on the website when applying. I did however tried to phone the passport office 10 times and got cut off each time after waiting on hold. The next day however txt came through to say it had been approved – utter relief!
