They didn’t log receiving the documents for 7 days so this didn’t help will give myself plenty of time for any further renewals
Stressful because we go away next week.. I rang them 3 times on the same day last week just to get different help. the last lady said she would escalate it as it had been sitting there awaiting approval. I put the phone down and literally 5 minutes later it got approved.. so worth the stress!
Good idea to send it Royal Mail Tracked as the wait from when it arrived at the passport office to the first email saying they had received it was 7 days, so it was good to know it was there waiting to be processed and not lost in the post.

Application being processed for 16 days then finally approved, passport approved on Friday morning, passport arrived Tuesday morning.
Passport office updates are very slow and when it eventually was shown as out for delivery, with a delivery date, the courier firm stated that it can be 48-72 hours after the shown delivery date. I had to call the courier firm and arrange to collect from their depot. The courier firm were very good the passport office were rather unhelpful! Good luck and apply early.
Expected time went out by seven days during my application and still getting longer – so leave plenty of time if you’ve got flights booked!!
Passport application made online. Processed at Durham. Took over a week to confirm receipt of old passport. TNT took over a week to deliver after having been printed on the 23rd February.
I’d recommend if your doing online to send your old documents special delivery to ensure you get next day delivery, will probably speed up the process. Overall it was simple enough process.
Poor notifications for delivery.
Returned passport was not acknowledged for 2 weeks after it arrived then application was processed quickly.
Very slow indeed. Please renew your passport as early as possible.
Waste of time stressful. Do it fast track.
Took a week for them to register receipt of old passport but once that was done it moved very quickly with excellent communication re progress.
Interesting to note that my first passport and three subsequent 10 yearly renewals took around 4 working days every time. This time it was 25 days. Is this solely due to Covid? If I, or indeed the world is still around 2032 it will be interesting to see if the waiting time has improved.
Easy process & the notifications were extremely welcome & reassuring!
Durham passport office, it took over a week for them to update receiving the passport and I didn’t receive the courier “on it’s way” notification till the day after I received the passport.
Quicker and simpler than I expected just too expensive.
