I didn’t expect it to be so quick. Times quoted above included 2 bank holidays as well. The updates they gave really kept us up-to-date. No chasing or need to stress about it. I applied at short notice as I am going away at the beginning of May and then at the end of May. My current passport didn’t have 3 months on it remaining on my 2nd trip. So it was a panic to get it done now. We at the same time for my wife and got hers in the same timescales.

I needed a fast track child’s appointment as I realised too late (on the Monday 25th) that we didn’t have enough time left on the passport. The first appointment I could get was on the Wednesday 27th at 8.20am and I received the passport at 8.30am on the 3rd April so exactly a week and with the two bank holidays. The frustration was that they use Royal Mail which don’t collect on bank holidays despite many other delivery providers working on bank holidays. I have also seen that everyone else who also submitted their application on the same day got it at the same time so it was pointless paying the extra and doing a 4 hour round trip to Peterborough as my application wasn’t approved until the Sunday. I thought the point of having the appointment was so you got a quicker service but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Overall a very expensive and stressful mistake as we missed our flights.
