I was born in the UK on the 21st July 2000 and had to send documents proving that my parents (EU nationals) were settled in the country when I was born. I sent my documents on the 8th March. Unfortunately, because of a legal case regarding British nationality law, my passport application was put on hold and couldn’t be approved until the end of June. I had to wait for the British Nationality Act 2023, which came into force on the 29th June. The following day, I received an email to book my interview. The interview took place online on the 8th July. On the 25th my application was approved in the morning and passport printed in the afternoon. I received my passport today, 31st July.
My passport application took really long because I sent my documents in March, I then had to wait for the British Nationality Act 2023 and had to change my application into an overseas one before my interview. It would’ve taken about a month.
I sent documents to Peterborough. I was emailed a few times from Durham HMPO.

It was quick but I found the gap between document actually received and the acknowledgment of receipt very long and stressful. They should definitety change their system and do 2 steps : document received when they are really received and documents processing when they start looking after it. I tried to reassure myself by looking at passportwaitingtime but it didn’t really help.

Stressful. Asking g for many many documents and we had to keep travelling 2 hours away to submit. This application was done overseas that’s why but surely some documents can just be checked online in the uk to verify.
