Quick, easy and painless experience renewing my passport. Even with having to upload a new passport photo it was a streamlined process at just over a week between submitting my application online, posting docs to Hemel Hempstead and receiving my new passport.

It was difficult to take a photo to the specification required (better to use a DSLR than a phone), otherwise it was very easy. Applied online on Sunday and new passport arrived on Saturday, as did old cancelled passport. They sent texts at every stage.

Text message as each stage of the process was completed. Submitted, old passport received, approved, printed, despatched. Post Office texted me to ask whether I wanted to collect from sorting office or deliver to my home. Sadly although blue passport, reference is still to “Her Majesty”.

Updated every step of the way. Sent my old passport back recorded – cost about £6. Have yet to receive that back but not a problem. Very impressed with the process and time to complete

I recieved my passport using online standard service for lost passport, faster than I could get an appointment for fast track local to me

Very good and quick experience, only one thing to comment on. I applied online, they asked me to send my child’s birth certificate but when they processed my application they then asked me for my marriage certificate so I then had to send that off. This then cost more to send and delayed the application slightly.

Applied online with a photo I took myself on an iPhone, the photo was pre-approved by the Gov website, sent the old passport by registered next day delivery and was lucky the whole process was dealt with amazingly quickly, just under 3 weeks from start to finish. The passport was processed at the Peterborough Office.

HMPO contacted me via email and kept me posted with regards to my letter to them requesting urgency in dispatching my passport internationally to me in the UAE. They stated international passport despatch SLA was 3-weeks. However, I got mine in 10 days! That was a major win for me. And I was very happy with the communication with HMPO.

It was very stressful experience. The Parcelforce tracking shows the passport was delivered 7 days after I sent out from Australia, but there was no process updates for 3 weeks. When I called the Passport Office, they said the password was not received in their system. Tried to call Royal Mail and they claimed the password was delivered 3 weeks ago. Then called back the Passport Office again to explain, then I was told to wait for another week if there is no further progress and they will start to investigate the case (with a case no. being provided). The next day, I received two emails. One was saying documents are received, another one was saying Passport Application Approved. 2 Days later, the new passport was onboard a DHL freight and arrived within 48 hours (consider the distance between UK and Australia, it is super quick.). However, the Old password was received about 2 weeks later (not sure why, seems like they treated as my passport as lost, then processing the new one, because the case work who took my second call said they could change the passport status as lost?).
